************* README for Streamline 4.0 Self-Extracting executable *************

Thank you for your interest in the installer for Streamline 4.0 beta. To install,
double-click on the "Centaur Beta.exe" file. The default extract directory is
"C:\Streamline 4.0". If this is acceptable, click the Unzip button. Otherwise, type
the target directory in the "Unzip to Folder" field and click the Unzip button. The
files in the archive will then be extracted to the specified directory. Click the
Close button to exit the extracting application.

One of the files needs to be moved for Streamline 4.0 to run. The file is called
"CTL3D32.DLL". It is extracted to a directory called "Put in Windows System or Windows
System32 directory". This file should be moved to the Windows System directory (usually
"C:\Windows\System") if running Windows 95, or to the Windows System32 directory
(usually "C:\Windows\System32") if running Windows NT. Once the file has been moved
the directory can safely be deleted.

Two issues arise since the file is a self-extracting archive: there is no provision for
entering a serial number, and there is no default directory for Plug-ins. To use TWAIN
for scanning, a default Plug-ins directory needs to be selected by the user. To do this,
launch Streamline 4.0, select File|Preferences|Plug-ins..., select "Plug-ins" in the
file window, click OK, then click OK again, and exit Streamline 4.0. The next time
Streamline 4.0 is launched, the Acquire menu item on the File menu should be enabled.

Finally, again, since there is no real installer, a shortcut is not created and put in
the Start Menu for easy access to the application. We apologize in advance for these
inconveniences, and hope your experience with Streamline 4.0 beta is a great one.
