THE MAIN MENU*
**************

PLAYING OPTIONS : Click the Configure button to open the Configuration Menu.

   Graphics Tab : Screen Resolution - 640 X 480 provides maximum quality
                  Window Style - Choose to display messages in a window or
                                 full screen
                  Color Depth - 16 Bit Mode provides the maximum color

   Sound Tab : Turn Background Music on and off, turn sound effects and bike
            engine sounds on and off, volume control

   Game Options Tab:

    Number of Roadside Objects: These all augment the tracks, but are not
                                necessary.  Leave them all in, choose 1/3
                                to view 1/3 of all available ones, or None.

    Visible Distance - Controls field of vision.  Move the slider bar to
                       incresae the field.

    Number of Practice Laps - Set them from 1 to 9
     
   Player Tab:

    Name - Player One/Two - Enter a name in the text boxes provided
    Total Bike Racers - Controls the # of computer controlled racers (4 to 24)
    Configure Player Controls 1 & 2

SINGLE/NETWORK PLAY

  Click on the Play button to play over a local, unconnected computer or over
  a network.

    Single : Select the Single button to play vs the computer if you are not
             connected to a network

    Network : Play Moto Extreme with a MODEM or NETWORK

    Number of Players : Choose 1 or 2.  When 2 players is selected, the
                        screen splits vertically and horizontally.  Player 1
                        plays in the top right corner of the screen, Player 2
                        the bottom left.

GAME MODE

  Practice - Select to play a single game.

  Season - Select to begin season play.  A complete season is accomplished
           when you race one of the three bikes (125cc, 250cc, Super Bike)
           successfully through all the tracks.  Success means finishing in
           1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. 

  Saving a Season - Click the save game option after completing a racetrack.

  Load - Click Load to open a pre-saved season file (.sav)

  New - Start a new season

  Skill Level - There are 3 skill levels.  Amateur, Pro, and Expert.

  Racetrack Select - Click on the button featuring the flag to select a
                     racetrack.  There are 8 seperate racetracks in the game,
                     not including the secret Lunar Track.  To preview a
                     racetrack from an overhead view, simply position the
                     pointer over the racetrack.  The racetrack rotates,
                     allowing you to study its contours and curves.

  The Secret Lunar Racetrack - This is a track raced during a season, but
                               does not appear in the normal racetrack
                               selection screen.  To access it in Practice
                               Mode, follow these instructions.

                               1. Click the flag adjacent to the Track Select
                                  option.  The racetrack selection screen
                                  appears.
                               2. Press and hold the CTRL key and move the
                                  cursor over each of the 8 visible tracks.
                               3. Click the Lunar racetrack graphic.

ACTION CONTROLS - Select this to change the keys for the numerous actions in
                  the game.

RIDING PERSPECTIVE - Two riding perspectives are offered.  To switch from one
                     view to the other, click F7.  If two players are racing
                     F7 controls the perspective for player 1, and F8 controls
                     it for player 2.

STUNTS - By manipulating certain action controls at the right time you can
         perform two outstanding stunts: a Step-off and a Spread Eagle.  Both
         provide extra game points.  Here's how they are done.

         Step-Off
         1. Get some "air" off a jump
         2. Release all control keys
         3. Press and release the brake
         4. Press brake again and hold as long as you wish to Step-Off

         Spread Eagle
         1. Get some "air" off a jump
         2. Release all control keys
         3. Press and release the Lean Forward control
         4. Press Lean Forward control again and hold as long as you wish to
            Spread Eagle

SPECIAL KEYS - Esc & F1 - Return to Main Menu
               F9 - Display Network Player Legend
               F7/F8 - Toggle Perspective for Player 1/Player 2

PLAYING MOTO EXTREME OVER A NETWORK

  Up to 12 players may play via modem or LAN.

  To Begin or Join a Network Game:

  1. Click on the Network button
  2. Enter your name in the dialog box that appears.
  3. Use "Choose Connection Type" to choose a protocol.  Choose Modem
     Connection to play with someone over a telephone line.  Choose WinSock
     TCP Connection for DirectPlay to play with someone over a network.  Also
     available is WinSock IPX for network play should you need it.
  4. The Select Network Game dialog box appears.  It lists any games you may
     join and lets you either connect to a current game or begin a new one.

Connect To A Current Game

  Select the game you want to join.  Click the connect button.  Your name will
  appear in a window with the names of all other participants.  Wait for the
  server to start up.  At this point you can return to Single Mode Play if
  you wish.  Just click Network and it will flip back to Single.

Begin A New Game 

  Click NEW to create a new game.  Your computer now becomes the new game
  server.  You will control all game settings and are responsible for starting
  the game when all people are connected.  After at least one client has
  connected, you may click the Play icon to begin.
