During the final phases of development for ZAF 5, some components may
not yet be fully ready for unrestricted use in applications.  Where
necessary, these components are disclaimed below.  Developers should
review this listing to make informed decisions before including these
objects in their code.  Unless noted otherwise, disclaimed components
will be completed during the ZAF 5 beta cycle.


Beta 2 -- February 7, 1997
=========================

GENERAL
-------
Documentation - Reference documentation incomplete, other docs
                unavailable.  Regular updates will be posted (more
                frequently than code updates.)

Examples -      No example programs.  Test suite and samples supplied.

Libraries -     Source code only.  Object code must be built by user.
                Object code will not be supplied until release-candidate.

Unicode -       Unicode character mode complete, loading of character
                maps from dat files not automatic.  Available beta 3.



PLATFORMS
---------
Windows -       Testing to date has focused on Windows 95.

Motif -         Not yet tested on SCO, Linux, UnixWare.  Primary
                testing completed on HPUX, Solaris, Irix, AIX, DecUnix,
                QNX.

DOS -           Not available.  Currently in late-stage development.
                Beta planned one month after release of ZAF 5.

Macintosh -     Same.

OS/2 -          Not available.  Beta planned two months after release
                of ZAF 5.

Curses -        Not available.  Beta not yet scheduled.

NEXTSTEP -      Not available.  Discontinued for ZAF 5.



COMPILERS
---------
Windows -       DLLs supported for 32 bit only.  This will not change.
                Microsoft 16 bit will not compile.  Microsoft has allowed
                this compiler to become out of sync with ANSI standards.
                IBM has received only cursory testing.
                Symantec support is user-supplied and not Zinc supported.

Motif -         Watcom makefiles (watcom.mak) are currently not working
                on QNX.


OBJECTS
-------
Table -         Still in development.  Will change substantially from
                distributed code.  Available in beta 3.

Chart -         Not yet included.  Available in later beta.

Image -         Cannot yet load image from executable.

Printer -       Not planned for ZAF 5.0.  Planned for first update.



DESIGNER
--------
General -       Executable only.  Source code not available.
                Current version is incomplete but beta ready as is.
                Product will be released in phases during beta cycle.


UTILITIES
---------
Convert -       User-defined data will not be copied to new dat file.
                (Derived objects are converted.)
