Building Blocks1 for trueSpace is a kit designed to help you build attractive, detailed 3D envirnments using simple shapes.
The kit consists of 20 seamless hand-painted image maps, a master scene, a material library, and a fully rendered example of what you can do with Building Blocks.
   To install:
   1. Create a folder in your truespace directory called BildBlok.
   2. Extract the archive (BildBlok.zip) into the new folder.
   3. Start trueSpace and load the scene 'Bildblc1.scn'.
That's it! I encourage you to explore the scene thoroughly. Look at the location and dimensions of each object. Look at the repetition coordinates for the image maps. I also encourage you to open the images in your favorite editing program. Customize them to your liking. They are all in 24 bit uncompressed formats. All are BMPs except for the picket fence which is a TGA with a transparency channel. You can convert your customized images to a VRML compatible format for use in your 3D worlds.
Each image map is scaled for use with the quad divide function in trueSpace. An example of this is the front door and sidewalk in the master scene.
For the preview image, I added some trees and a car from the trueClips CD-ROM (included with trueSpace2) and rendered it.. then I composited the faux reflections in Painter 4 using the magic wand and the original textures. The results are excellent considering the simplicity of the process.

I plan on creating a series of Building Blocks kits. Your feedback will help me to come up with better and more useful kits.
Building Blocks1 is free. You may distribute the archive (BildBlok.zip) as long as you don't alter it's contents in any way.
Image maps created with Fractal Design Painter 4.
