PROGRAM INSTALLATION NOTES:
for either DOS or WIN95, you must have a registered
version of Quake 1.01 installed on HD or you'll get
yourself in trouble during installation!

       DOS INSTALL
1) Create a temp dir (eg: d:\ascd)
2) Unarj files to temp dir (eg: unarj x -v -y skaftshk.001 d:\ascd)
[files will default to root dir if you don't create a
directory and extract to that location]
3) Use included FAKECD utility (eg: fakecd d:\ascd /L:e)
4) Log onto your pseudo-CD
5) Run the INSTALL.EXE file (setup.exe is for Win95)
6) Start program up with AS.BAT in your Quake directory.

SIDENOTES: I disabled my CD before using FAKECD. If you
have problems, follow suit. If you don't like the frontend
you can strip the addon levels from the CD directory and
use them instead. Knowledge of using addon files to quake
is necessary - read your docs! First install failed because
I was using an older copy of Quake. Make sure you have the
registered v1.01 and not the shareware or an old file set.

      WINDOWS 95 INSTALL
1) follow steps 1-2 above
2) From Win95, start DOS prompt Window
3) Use SUBST command (eg: SUBST E: D:\ASCD)
4) Drop DOS prompt Window to TaskBar (don't exit DOS session)
5) Run SETUP.EXE from your pseudo-CD directory with either
RUN/START or with EXPLORER (don't recommend Control Panel)
6) START GAME w/new shortcut icon

SIDENOTES: I don't recommend installing for Windows95 only
because it tosses files into your Windows\System directory
without your consent and it locked up on me 1 out of 3 times.
Besides, who plays Quake in Windows? Nice icon though.

FINAL NOTES: If you experience problems (eg no monsters,
slow graphics, hangups while moving to the next level(s) -
exit the game & frontend and check the directories that
Aftershock installed to. There should be a subdirectory
called AS which contains 18MB of files. If not there, then
installation failed and must be repeated correctly. Advanced
Quake users can strip the game of the levels they want and
toss the rest away.

Enjoy - as usual!
