Save -> vrml

The Save -> vrml command in the Model module lets you convert polygon mesh objects in a scene to VRML format (.wrl for world).

This version supports Point and Spot lights, as well as multiple lights. It also supports local and global materials, and 2D textures.

Note:
The texture needs to be UV mapped on the object using the Txt_Oper -> Info UV Coord. command in the Matter module with vertices generation. Each texture that is attached to a model being converted is automatically converted in a JPEG file format during the object or scene conversion. The conversion is made using the Imgconvert tool.

1. When you choose the Save -> vrml command, the VRML Plug-In dialogue box is displayed:

2. Specify a File Name in which to save the VRML file. The .wrl extension is added automatically. Click the Browser button to have access to existing file names in databases.

3. Select the Options and click Ok to convert the scene or Cancel to cancel the operation.

Parameters

Save as Multiple Inline Files

If you select this option, every polygon mesh object in the scene file is converted and saved in a separate file. A file is also saved for the entire scene which references each polygon mesh object as an inline file. Inline files disregard hierarchical structures.

Save Selected Model

Select this option to save only the selected objects in the scene. If you don't select this option, the entire scene is converted, including all objects and lights.

VRML Preview

Select this option to actually do the scene conversion and then start your favourite VRML viewer directly in SOFTIMAGE 3D. You can then view the resulting conversion right away. Before you can use this option, add the SI_VRML environment variable to your .softimage file. It should point to where the viewer is stored on your disk, such as /net/bin/favourite viewer.
