Polygon -> PolyOrder
The Polygon -> PolyOrder command in the Model module allows you to define the order of the individual polygons of a model. The polygons can be ordered randomly, or sequentially along the x, y, or z axes. PolyOrder is useful in conjunction with other effects such as PolyGrow.
Procedure
1. Create a polygon mesh model.
2. Choose the Polygon -> PolyOrder command. The PolyOrder dialogue box is displayed.
3. Set the parameters as desired.
4. Pick the model.
A new model is created with its polygons reordered as specified.
Parameters
Ordering Parameters
- Along X-axis orders the polygons sequentially along the x-axis.
- Along Y-axis orders the polygons sequentially along the y-axis.
- Along Z-axis orders the polygons sequentially along the z-axis.
- Random Order orders the polygons randomly about the model. If you select this option, you must also define the Seed Value, which specifies a value for the random number generator. Use different values to create different random patterns of motion.
Direction
- Forward orders the model starting with the polygon that has the lowest value along the chosen axis to the polygon with the highest value along that axis.
- Backward orders the model starting with the polygon that has the highest value along the chosen axis to the polygon with the lowest value along that axis.
Group Polygons
Allows you to create groups of polygons containing a specified number of polygons. This is particularly useful with other SOFTIMAGE custom effects such as the Duplicator effect, where you may want to keep each duplicate grouped together.
