Info -> Intersection
The Info -> Intersection command is available in all modules except Tools. It allows you to select a location on a 3D plane and to display information on any points of the curve which intersect that location or plane.
If you wish to add points on a curve along the specified location/plane, use the Effect -> Plane Clipping command. You can also use the same command to clip a polygon mesh object along a plane.
- Note:
- This command is not currently implemented for NURBS curves.
Procedure
1. Select a Linear, Bezier, Cardinal, or B-Spline curve.
2. Choose the Info -> Intersection command.
The Intersection dialogue box is displayed.
3. Select a plane and specify a point of interaction on that plane.
For example, select the XY plane and specify the intersection point in z of -1.5.
4. Click Ok to apply the settings or Cancel to exit.
The Info Intersection dialogue box appears and displays information on all intersecting points, if there are any.
Parameters
Segment
Indicates in which segment of the curve the intersecting point lies.
Point
Displays the x, y, z coordinates of the intersecting point.
Factor
Factor displays the exact knot value of the intersecting point. On a curve, the delta between each knot is 1.0, so the displayed value indicates how far along the given curve segment the intersection point lies.
