Get -> 3DS2Soft


The Get -> 3DS2Soft command in the Model module lets you import 3D Studio model files into SOFTIMAGE 3D. The 3DS2Soft effect requires one 3D Studio model file.

Procedure

1. Choose the Get -> 3DS2Soft command in the Model module. The 3DS2Soft dialogue box is displayed:

2. Set the parameters as desired.

The model is imported into SOFTIMAGE 3D.

Parameters

Input File

The name (with full or relative path) of the .3ds file to be imported. The .3ds extension may be omitted, but the file name itself must end in 3ds. You can use the Browser button to quickly access files that qualify as .3ds model files.

Scale By

Scale factors to apply to the imported model.

Rotate By

Rotation values (in degrees) to apply to the imported model.

Translate By

Translation values to apply to the imported model.

Freeze Transform

Freezes the resulting transformation.

If the .3ds file contains multiple models, they are placed in a SOFTIMAGE 3D hierarchy. You may want to rearrange the hierarchy after importing.
