Duplicate -> Expand

The Duplicate -> Expand command is available in all modules except Tools. It replaces the selected instance with a duplicate of the whole hierarchy of its master object.

The operation cuts the instantiation link to the master and creates all the necessary data structures of the duplicate. This command expands up only one level; that is, it replaces the instance by the whole hierarchy of its master, but if there are instances in that hierarchy, they point to their master.

Procedure

1. Select one or more instance (using either the Single or Multi menu cell).

2. Choose the Duplicate -> Expand command.

3. In the Schematic window, the instance is replaced with an independent duplicate of the hierarchy of its master. Any instances within this hierarchy point to their master.
