*** Installation and Setup Readme File ***

Manual Changes

Changes to the manual chapter 2, 4, and 5 are contained in the following sections. Changes to the manual for each program are included in the appropriate README file for that program.

Chapter 2

The Note on page 2 -5 is incorrect. During the setup process you will be asked if you want to have Crash Proof 16 and Crash Proof AutoTest start automatically every time you start your PC. If you select yes, the following changes will be made to your system:

Windows 3.1 users

An entry for CPROOF16 will be added to the RUN= line of WIN.INI

Windows 95 users

Shortcuts to CPROOF16 and AUTOTEST will be added to the Startup Folder.

Chapter 4

The Readme Reader screen, shown on page 4-2, has be changed.

Page 4 -3 states that the number of diskettes used in the installation process is 3. The number of diskettes used during the installation may be 3 or 4, depending on the version of the program you have.

Starting Power Utilities under Windows 3.1 on page 4 - 4. The best way to start the programs is to run the Start Here program.

Page 4 -4 states that the number of diskettes used in the installation process is 4. The number of diskettes used during the installation may be 3 or 4, depending on the version of the program you have.

Page 4 - 4 Note. If you attempt to install the programs by copying all of the files to a hard disk directory and then running the setup program from there, a key file name, which is duplicated for two of the programs, will become corrupted. This effectively prevents you from using this method to install the programs. We strongly urge you to use only the enclosed SETUP program to install Power Utilities.

Starting Power Utilities under Windows 95 on page 4 - 5. The best way to start the programs is to run the Start Here program.

Chapter 5

Page 5-5 states that by default Crash Proof 16 is not automatically loaded on your system. This is true, but the SETUP program does offer to make Crash Proof 16 start automatically each time you start your system.

The Start Here program screen shown on page 5 -5 has been changed.

About Crash16 and Crash32

Crash16 and Crash32 are test programs for trying out Crash Proof. These programs are included on the setup disks and are copied into the CPROOF directory. However, setup does not build icons for them. If you wish to run these programs, you can use File Manager or Explorer to locate and run the CRASH16.EXE or CRASH32.EXE files in the CPROOF directory. If you are not running Crash Proof AutoTest or Crash Proof 16 when you run the Crash programs, be prepared for a system error message.
