-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enhancements to NS/Midrange Bundle Versions 5.1x
            -------------------------------------------------

The following enhancements have been made to NS/Midrange Bundle Version 5.11.
For complete details, refer to the online help of the appropriate application.

Enhancements to NS/Midrange Bundle Version 5.11

- Support for both a TN5250 session and an APPC session to run simultaneously
- AnyNet link driver support
- Renex link driver support
- TCP/IP support to the Novell SAA Server and the Microsoft SNA Server
- Import support for IBM CA/400 and Wall Data configurations files
- Redesign of modem dialer interface for new Async and Autosync router files

                       AnyNet Communications Link
                       --------------------------

The new AnyNet link communications driver was added to the NS/Router with
v5.10. It enables SNA communication over a Winsock compatible TCP/IP stack.
It provides PC communications to a host AS/400 that is running V3R1 OS/400.

                       Renex Communications Link
                       -------------------------

The new Renex link communications driver was added to the NS/Router with
v5.10. The Renex link driver can make remote host connections through
either a Renex TMS-4 or RPAD-2 controller.

NetWare for SAA Physical Link Now Supports TCP/IP and Multiple Gateways
   -----------------------------------------------------------------------

NetWare for SAA physical link supports for TLI and Winsock TCP/IP and
multiple gateways was also added with v5.11.

Refer to the extensive online help for information on how to configure
the TLI and Winsock TCP/IP and multiple gateways.

                               Modem Dialer
                               ------------

Version 5.10 included a new modem dialer interface. The pre 5.10 version of
the modem dialer is also shipped with version 5.10 and 5.11. When starting
the NS/Router, the router will detect the version of your router configuration
file and automatically select the appropriate version of the modem dialer to
make your connection. Although you can still use existing router
configuration files created with previous versions (5.02 and earlier) of the
NS/Router Configurator to make your host connection, you cannot reconfigure
or modify these previously created router files with the version 5.10
NS/Router Configurator. All new router configurations created for Async and
Autosync links will use the new modem dialer to make your connections.

Enhancements to NS/Midrange Bundle Version 5.11

- Supports the IFS (Integrated File System) for V3R1 host operating systems

                          Integrated File System
                          ----------------------

The Integrated File System (IFS) is a part of the AS/400 operating system.
IFS enhances your data management capabilities by better supporting
client/server and open systems environments.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                      Directory Structure and Files
                      -----------------------------

The NS/Midrange Bundle Setup program creates a default directory structure
for all the files as indicated below. This is the default directory
structure; your directory structure may vary depending upon the installation
paths you have selected.

C:\NSMIDRNG
    |---\MISC (contains all the *.LIB, global help, icon,
    | DOS batch and readme files)
    |
    |---\E400 (contains all the Elite/400 Emulator files)
    |
    |---\TRANSFER (contains all the NS/Transfer files)
    |
    |---\ROUTER (contains all the NS/Router files)
    |
    |---\CMDRCL (contains all the NS/Commander CL files)
    |
    |---\FOLDERS (contains all the NS/Folders files)

NOTE: The setup program has been modified to copy the following batch files
      to the MISC subdirectory:

      NSEHNON.BAT
      NSEHNOFF.BAT

These files were originally part of Procedure 2 of the Trace Utility found
on pages 20-22 of your NS/Elite Transfer booklet and were installed,
automatically by the setup program into your Windows SYSTEM directory.

If you need to run the trace utility, follow Procedure 1 (in NS/Elite
Transfer booklet).

If you wish to run the Trace Utility from the batch files above, (Procedure 2
of the Trace Utility), you will need to copy NSEHNON.BAT and NSEHNOFF.BAT
from:

c:\nsmidrng\misc

to your Windows SYSTEM directory.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Changes to the NS/Midrange Bundle Booklet
                -----------------------------------------
Several topics in the NS/Midrange Bundle Booklet have been modified since
the publishing date. They are listed below:

 1 - NS/Elite Printer Session Window - pages 27 - 29
The NS/Elite Printer Session Window display, functionality and Page
Setup windows have been modified. Please refer to the extensive online
help for complete information on how to use the Printer Session.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                  "QueryConvState" APPC Verb Support
                  ----------------------------------

Elite/400 now supports the APPC verb "QueryConvState" through
the EHNAPPC and MPVBX.DLLs (dated 10/14/93) for use with the
Novell SAA Gateway link.

In order to take advantage of this support, you must have the Novell ETF
(engineering temporary fix) AS400PCS.NLM Version 2.08 or later installed.
This ETF can be ordered through Novell's customer support (by request
only). The next major version will also include this support, but it
is not scheduled for release until next year.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

IBM PCS/400 Corrective Services Required for FTS
            ------------------------------------------------

When using the Elite/400 File Transfer System with Version 2 Release 2
(Modification 0) of IBM AS/400 PC Support/400 installed on your AS/400 and/or
PC, you must make sure that the following IBM Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs)
have been installed; otherwise, you may encounter various symptoms related
to IBM Authorized Program Analysis Reports (APARs):

   PTF # APAR# Component Router

SF11660 SA24987 PC IBM only (standard DOS only)
   SF11835 SA24862 Host IBM or NS/Router
   SF11448 SA24862 Host IBM or NS/Router

Note: These PTFs are not required if you are running Version 2 Release 1
      (Modification 1).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

IBM PCS/400 Corrective Service Required for Text Assist
           -------------------------------------------------------

When using the Text Assist with Version 2 Release 2 (Modification 0) of
IBM AS/400 PC Support/400 installed on your AS/400 and/or PC, you must
make sure that the IBM Program Temporary Fix (PTF) #SF14687 (or any
superceding PTF) has been installed; otherwise, you will not be able to
run Text Assist successfully. Contact IBM to obtain the PTF.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Text Assist Editor of Choice Must be OfficeVision 400
           -----------------------------------------------------

When using Elite/400's Text Assist, the editor of choice must be
OfficeVision 400 and the IBM PTF #SF14687 must be applied (see the
previous section "IBM PCS/400 Corrective Service Required for Text Assist"
for detailed information).

If the editor of choice is set to an editor other than OfficeVision 400,
you may get either IBM's text assist (this will be apparent because the words
"Adapted Mode" will be displayed in the upper left-hand corner of the screen)
or you may get another kind of editor that you did not expect to access.

To set the editor of choice to OfficeVision 400, perform the following
steps:

1. Type the following on any AS/400 command line: GO PCOMNU

2. Select choice #3 (Select editor of choice)

3. Select choice #1 (OfficeVision 400)

You may then return to your editing screen and Text Assist will be active.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                  Translation Table File OPEN error
                  ---------------------------------

You may encounter the following error message when you attempt to open a
router configuration file (.RTR) that was created in a version of NS/Router
configurator earlier than 4.1 (which has support for multiple languages).

   "Translation table file OPEN error.
    File name: `d:\path\xxxxx\xxxxx.map'
    Load with internal translation table?

where d\path is the drive and path where the product was installed and
xxxx is the name of the file

This is caused by the fact that versions before 4.1 used a type G default
translation table. Because a default translation table was used, the
"TranslateTable=" entry in the router configuration file under the
[Workstation] heading was left blank or the specified Translation Table
or path is no longer valid.

In order to use an older router configuration file with NS/Router version
4.1, the TranslateTable= entry must now specify one of the several different
translation tables that are available for use. To accomplish this, perform
the following steps:

1. From the NS/Router Configurator main window, open the router configuration
file that you want to use.

2. Click on the Preferences button. This will take you to the Preferences
   dialog box.

3. Select the Host\PC Code Page drop-down list box and click on the
type of translation file you wish to use. You can use the default
translation table (the first one listed) but you must still actually
drop it down and click on it in order for the changes in the router
   configuration file to take effect.

4. Choose OK

5. Use the File:Save menu option to save the modified router configuration
   file.

The error message should not re-occur.

NOTE: If you created your own customized translation table called, for
example, `mytable' and modified the TranslateTable= entry so that
it read TranslateTable=[d:\path\]mytable, you should not receive
any error messages and NS/Router will continue to use your
      customized translation table.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                      NS/Folders Unsupported Links
                      ----------------------------

Currently, NS/Folders does not support the following links/protocols:

  - Eicon SNA Gateway
  - LANManager using Microsoft IPX/SPX

NS/Folders supports Windows for Workgroups 3.11 using the IPX/SPX compatible
with NetBEUI if you load the Netware shell before starting Windows. This means
that you need Novell's IPX stack.

NS/Folders requires Microsoft Windows version 3.1 (enhanced mode), MS-DOS
version 5.01, and NS/Router version 4.13 or later.

NOTE: NS/Folders currently supports the Async physical link. The Async link
supports COM serial ports based on the 8250 chip; however, High Performance
third party serial cards may not be compatible.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

NS/Folders Compatibility with Windows for Workgroups
           ----------------------------------------------------

Due to the type of redirector used by NS/Folders, it is not sharable
on Windows for Workgroups.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
                  NS/Folders with NWSAA PTF SAA015.EXE
                  ------------------------------------

If you have updated your Netware for SAA 13B with PTF SAA015.EXE, NS/Folders
will not work. If this is the case, you will notice the following
symptoms:

If you have mapped shared folders drives and begin copying large binary
files to and from them, NS/Folders will display 'File Not Found'. Windows
will still show that the folders are mapped, when, in fact, they are not
really there. You will eventually get a GPF.

To resolve this problem, user should replace the new LLC802.NLM file with the
original file from the SAA 13B release.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                    Editing the E400.INI File
                    -------------------------

It is strongly recommended that you DO NOT edit the E400.INI file. The
only exception is the use of valid keywords that are available for
such operations as the selection of different attribute tables for
each session, etc. (For more detailed information on available keywords,
refer to the NS/Elite online help and choose the Help: Index menu option
and then select the "Adding Keywords to the E400.INI file" topic.)

If you do edit the E400.INI file, keep the following in mind:

The default directory for most of the language, printer and display
settings in the E400.INI file is the installation directory (or the
system directory in some rare cases) and these defaults cannot be changed.
Therefore, If you customize any of these files you can specify a new
file name but you CANNOT specify a new directory path. If you do, you will
receive an error message and the operation will not work.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                NS/QUEUES
                                ---------

NS/Queues is a member of NetSoft's next generation NS/Midrange Client
Services family. It is a high performance client server middleware product
that works over NetSoft's NS/Router. It provides Windows applications with
an interprocess communication (IPC) facility to AS/400 data processing
through read and write access to AS/400 data queues.

The NS/Queues DLL named EHNDQW.DLL is included on the NS/Queues diskette.
You can find the API definition for this DLL in the "IBM PC Support
Reference" (SC-418254-02).

System Requirements
 - Intel 80386 or higher PC
 - DOS 3.3 or later
 - Windows 3.1 enhanced mode
 - NS/Router 4.02 or later
 - Communications Adapter:
   LAN/WAN, Async, SDLC or Twinax

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
                   SNA Server Client Upgrade Issues
                   --------------------------------

When you upgrade your SNA Client software after your NetSoft product has been
installed, the SNA Client installation overwrites NetSoft's EHNAPPC.DLL and
EHNRTRW.DLL files. In this case, the NetSoft product will no longer function
correctly.

If you are performing an upgrade, back these two files up before installing the
upgrade, and then copy them back to your WINDOWS directory after the upgrade is
complete.
