INSTALLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your first step in using Scope/VB is to run the Setup program
to install Scope/VB on your hard disk.
Scope/VB requires approximately 6 MB of free space on your
hard disk. For more information on Scope/VB system requirements,
consult your Scope/VB manual.
Installing Scope/VB
-------------------
To install the Scope/VB on your system, do the following:
1.  Insert the Scope/VB Disk 1 in the appropriate drive.
2.  On Microsoft Windows 95, use the Add/Remove Programs utility
    of the Control Panel application to run the setup program.
    or
    On Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, and
    Microsoft Windows NT, use the Run command on the File menu
    of the File Manager or Program Manager to run the setup
    program (Example: A:\SETUP.EXE).
3.  Follow the installation instructions on the screen.
AFTER INSTALLATION, PLEASE READ THE README.WRI FILE LOCATED IN
THE Scope/VB ROOT DIRECTORY FOR UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION.
Handling Errors During Installation
-----------------------------------
1. File in use.
When Setup is installing a file and the file is in use by another
application, Setup will display an "Error" message. If you are
sure that you have the latest version of the indicated file on your
system, you can safely choose Ignore to continue the installation.
Otherwise, you need to run Setup again after you close all active
applications.
It is best to close all applications before you run Setup.
2. Invalid directory name.
If you specify a invalid directory name in the "Choose Destination
Location" dialog and choose Cancel to exit, Setup will display an
"Invalid directory name." message. To Cancel, provide a valid directory
name and then choose Cancel.
3. Registering OLE Objects.
If you have any problems registering OLE Objects during installation,
please follow the instructions in the "Frequently Asked Questions"
section of the Release Notes (README.WRI).
4. ntvdm.exe - No Disk.
The message "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into
drive <cdrom drive>:." during Setup can safely be ignored by choosing
the Ignore button. Please note that the drive in the message SHOULD
NOT be the installation media drive.
5. Uninstalling Scope/VB.
Scope/VB provides an uninstall program. The Automatic option does
not remove shared/system files. You could choose the Custom option and
manually select the files you want to remove from your system. Be
careful when you delete shared system files as they may be used by
other applications.
