DOCUMENTATION CHANGES

This section describes areas where the First Aid 95 Deluxe Users Guide
is not consistent with the user interface for First Aid.

Under Windows 3.x while running the main First Aid 95 program clicking
the Clean Windows button will bring up a third tab "Clean INI Files"
You can use these functions to check for orphan INI files that are no
longer being used by any programs.

ISSUES and COMMENTS

There are a few known issues or comments concerning First Aid 95 Deluxe
at this time. Currently, First Aid 95 Deluxe does not solve 100% of
all Windows 3.x or Windows 95 problems. If there is a Windows problem
which you feel that First Aid should be solving but is not, please
call CyberMedia Technical Support and let us know. To the extent that
it is possible, we will make every effort to include such problem
solving in an update that when available will be released through
our FTP internet site, Compuserve, AOL, or our BBS. Also if you have
access to the Internet you can automatically check any time for updates
by running the Updates Option from the Launch Control.

Issues with FirstAid 95 Deluxe installation:

1) If you are having problems installing First Aid or running FirstAid
after installation, then the following may apply to you. Some
antivirus programs have a conflict with our setup program. Check
your autoexec.bat file and comment out the antivirus program by
placing a "rem " at the beginning of the line) and reboot your
system. You can then install FirstAid 95 Deluxe again.
When you are done, uncomment the lines in your autoexec.bat
(remove the "rem ") and reboot your system again.

2) If you get an error when running setup.exe (such as error 301), then
the problem may be that your temporary directory (see TEMP= in your
autoexec.bat file) has too much data in it, or you have too many
applications running on your PC, or that your installation disks
are defective. Try closing some applications or removing some of
the temporary files from your temporary directory and then running
setup again. If you suspect defective disks please contact
   CyberMedia Technical Support for replacement.

Issues with First Aid application checking:

1) If you are having a problem with an application and you do not see
any First Aid error box appear, then try checking in the First Aid
application proactively (i.e. via the application button).
The proactive check of applications is much more complete and does
not depend on the operation of the application.

2) There are instances where First Aid will report errors about
missing files or configuration entries, and these errors concern
portions of an application which are not installed on your system.
In such cases, you can configure the checking of the application
to not report these errors. After pressing the application button,
select an application to check. If the application has not been
previously configured for checking, then you will be asked to locate
the application and then to configure its checking parameters.
If the application has previously been configured, you can press
the Features button to configure its checking parameters. At this
point, the configuration screen for that application appears, and you
can turn off checking for the area that is reporting these errors.

3) When checking an application, you may sometimes see a warning message
saying that the application is a different version from the one that
First Aid supports. If the version that you have is a minor upgrade
to one that First Aid supports, then checking for that application
can be done, however a few things may be flagged as errors when they
really are not. However, if the application is a major upgrade (e.g.
version 2.0 where the previous version was 1.0), then checking will
not be possible because the two versions are just too different and
many errors will be indicated. In some cases, First Aid may locate
a missing file but if you try to fix the problem by copying the file,
First Aid will not let you do it because the file is too different.
If this happens, note the file name/location and try copying the file
   using the File Manager.

Issues with checking modems and port settings:

1) The following happens under Windows 3.1 and you are connected to a
network. There is a chance that when you check your com ports you
will find that your network connection has been canceled. If this
happens, the next time you restart your computer your network
   connection will be re-established.

Issues with network checking are listed below:

1) Network checks only work for Novell Netware 3.0, Windows for
Workgroups 3.11 and Windows95 networks. More network support will be
   added in future releases.

Issues with certain communications programs:

1) Some people have reported a problem using certain communications
programs with First Aid such as Lap Link, the Internet Phone, etc.
The symptom is that when these programs are started, the user
gets a message saying "Not enough memory to run" or else the
program does not function properly. To fix this problem, do the
   following:

   i) Double click on NotePad from the Accessories Group of the
Program Manager. When it comes up type the following:

	  [Init]
	  OpenComm=0

Then select "Save As..." from the "File" menu. Type in
"DRWCFG.INI" (without the quotes) in the 'File Name:'
field. Make sure that the 'Directories:' field is the
Windows Directory (this should be the default if NotePad
is launched from the Accessories Group).

ii) Select "Open" from the "File" menu and type "*.db0"
(without the quotes). Select the directory where
First Aid is installed (normally c:\firstaid under
Windows 3.1 or c:\1staid95 under Windows 95). The user
should see firstaid.db0 in the listbox below the
place where "*.db0" is typed. Select firstaid.db0 and
	click on the OK button.

iii) Add the following 3 lines (2 lines of text and a blank
line) at the top of FIRSTAID.DB0:

	  [Additional Hooks]
	  DrWCfg=1

Then select "Save" from the "File" menu.

iv) Reboot Windows. Now the user should be able to run
	LapLink for Windows.

Issues with RetroFix

1) New programs that you have added since the first RetroFix
snapshot have been taken have added a config.sys or
autoexec.bat file that originally did not exist.
When you run RetroFix and look at subsequent changes to the new
file and compare it with the snapshot where the file did not exist
you will see a blank retrofix screen. This is because there was
no data about what was in the old, non-existent file.

Issues with CyberHelp:

1) When you click on a web hot link CyberHelp will attempt to launch
your Internet browser. If you select another company hotlink,
CyberHelp will launch another copy of your Browser. etc.

Issues with closing screen:

1) When you shut down Windows 95 with First Aid 95 Deluxe installed you
will see a new closing screen with the "tip of the day". Users who
are running their video in hi-color or true-color mode will not see
this screen. This is a limitation of Windows 95. At any point you wish
to revert back to the standard Windows 95 closing screen you can do
   the following.

   i) Open your explorer and view your Windows folder.
   ii) Copy logos.cym to logos.sys.

Issues with Windows 95 Updates

1) The manual states that the Windows 95 Update function is used to update
your Windows 95 with the Microsoft Windows 95 Service Pak 1. This
function will be available for any future Windows 95 Services pack
   updates as well.

Issues with other Applications:

1) A file used by First Aid 95 Deluxe for setup and uninstall is recognized
by both Symantec's Spacewizard program (part of Norton Utilities 95)
and Quarterdeck's CleanSweep as a temporary file. This file is
~ins076.lib. Please do not delete it. Without it you will not be able
   to uninstall.
