Windows NT 4.0 Support
----------------------

SoftICE 1.0 supports Windows NT 4.0 Beta 1. All features have been
tested and appears to be in working order.

However at the time this product was releasing, Microsoft was preparing
to release Windows NT 4.0 Beta 2. It's unclear to what extent SoftICE
works with this upcoming beta release but several problems have already
been identifed.

Please check our web site at http://www.numega.com/ for support and
update information.

DOS Extender Support
--------------------

DOS Extender applications can be debugged with SoftICE, but the process
is not as automatic as with Windows applications. The following points
apply:
- To gain control in the beginning of your application, you should embed
an int 3 instruction in your code and turn i3here on in SoftICE.
- Both sticky and virtual breakpoints are not supported in extender
applications.
- It is possible to debug 32-bit extender applications at source level.
Your tools must be capable of producing debug information compatible
with the DBG2MAP utility. Refer to the chapter on Preparing for Source
Level Debugging in the Using SoftICE manual.
- Symbols will not be automatically fixed up. You must use the SYMLOC
command to set both the base address and context for your application.

Known Anomalies
---------------

--- Erratic keyboard behavior: If the keyboard behaves erratically when
SoftICE is loaded, add the following command to WINICE.DAT and restart
SoftICE:
NOLEDS=ON

If the erratic behavior persists, add this line as well:
ECHOKEYS=ON

--- Erratic mouse pointer movement: If mouse movement occurs when
SoftICE is "popping up", Windows NT and the mouse hardware to become out
of sync, resulting in erratic mouse pointer movement. Switching to a
full screen DOS box should correct the problem.
