Service and Support

Do you have problems using ReachOut?  Use any of these support
services to get answers quickly. 


Stac StartUp Service
--------------------

Stac provides 60 days of free StartUp service with all software 
products. StartUp service is designed to help you during the 
initial installation and configuration of your software. 
All unused StartUp service expires 90 days after release of
a new version of your software.

  Hours Available
  Stac's StartUp telephone service is available from 8:00 AM to 
  5:00 PM Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. Stac's StartUp 
  electronic services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  You can receive direct assistance from Stac Service and Support 
  any time during your 60 day StartUp period. Your StartUp period 
  begins after your first contact, either by telephone or electronic
  mail, with Stac Service and Support. To receive StartUp service 
  you must register your Stac product and supply your product serial 
  number when contacting the Service and Support group.


  Stac Internet Services (http://www.stac.com)
  Stac Internet services let you read and save frequently asked
  questions (FAQs) and technical documents; you can also access
  file updates. Users within the StartUp period may post questions 
  directly to Stac's Service and Support group.


Complimentary Electronic Services (unlimited)

  Stac Internet Services (http://www.stac.com)
  Stac Internet services let you read and save frequently asked
  questions (FAQs) and technical documents; you can also access
  file updates. You can use any of the non-interactive services.

  Stac Download Service (619.794.3711)
  The Stac Download service provides access to libraries of technical 
  documents and product information as well as file updates. Modem 
  settings are N-8-1 at speeds up to 14,400 bps.

  In Europe (+44)1344.483.573 (in French, German, and English); 
  supports 300-28,800 baud with V.32 and V.42bis.

  Stac Fax (619.794.3710)
  Stac Fax provides unlimited access to Stac's automated fax system. 
  The Stac Fax system delivers technical information on Stac products 
  directly to your fax machine.

Stac OnDemand Fee-based Services
--------------------------------

After your StartUp period has expired, you can receive support via 
Stac's OnDemand services. OnDemand service provides fast access to 
Stac's Service and Support group after your StartUp period has expired. 
Choose from two types of OnDemand service, either Per-Minute for quick 
questions and configuration help or Per-Incident for the convenience 
of extended service hours and the ability to purchase service incident 
packs in advance.  Each software problem is a single incident.

  OnDemand Per-Minute via 800 (800.305.7822)
  OnDemand per-minute via 800 is available from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific
  Time Monday through Friday.  The cost for this service is $2.95 per 
  minute with a 10-minute minimum. Charges are billed through either 
  Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.
  To access this service from outside the USA and Canada, all 619.794.3705.

  OnDemand Per-Minute via 900 (900.555.7822)
  OnDemand per-minute via 900 is available from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific
  Time Monday through Friday. The cost for this service is $2.95 per minute. 
  Charges are applied directly to your telephone bill.

  OnDemand Per Incident via 800 (800.305.7822)
  OnDemand per-incident service is available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM 
  Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.  Service is available in single 
  incidents, or you can pre-purchase multi-incident packs in blocks of 
  five or more for a significant savings. Please call for pricing, or

Stac Premier Services

Stac provides Premier level service for site license customers or those 
who require an unlimited amount of service on an annual basis. See

B.  Updating the Modem Table

When you configure a modem, you choose it from a modem list. The
current list is contained in MTABLE.RCH in your ReachOut directory.
If your modem isn't in the list, you may want to get the latest
version of MTABLE.RCH and replace the one in your ReachOut directory.
You can get the file from the Stac BBS, the Stac forum on CompuServe,
or from the Stac site on the Internet.

Once you are connected, locate and download MTABLE.EXE. This is a 
self-extracting ZIP file; when you run MTABLE, it produces
MTABLE.RCH. Copy MTABLE.RCH into your ReachOut directory and configure
your modem.

Replacing the modem table overlays any changes you have made to the
previous modem table. If you have added or modified entries,
don't forget to make the same changes to the new modem table.

C.  Updating Virus Scanning Information

For the latest virus checking information, check the Stac BBS, the Stac
CompuServe forum, or the Internet site for a file named in this pattern:
         LPT?VPN.###
The extension indicates the version. You'll find different versions
for DOS and Windows.
