1. Later Information

The information in this document is up to date at the time
ReachOut 5.0 was released. Check the SUPPORT.TXT file for sources of
later information.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

2. BEFORE INSTALLING REACHOUT

If you have any other remote control software on your computer,
remove it before installing ReachOut.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

3. WINDOWS 95 VIEWING WINDOW

If you are running the Viewer on a Windows 95 computer, pressing
ALT+TAB in the viewing window switches you between programs on the
Viewer instead of on the Host. If are viewing in Full Screen mode,
pressing CTRL+ESC will not reduce the size of the viewing window;
however, it will bring the taskbar to the front.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

4. COLOR CURSORS

On a Windows 95 computer that has a color cursor, you'll see only the
standard white pointer while you are running ReachOut.

If you are using an animated cursor from the Windows 95 Plus! pack,
you can display this cursor properly by putting the switch
colorcursor=yes in the [system] section of REACHOUT.INI. The
animated cursor will then display in color, but under remote control
it shows up on the Viewer as a black arrow.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

5. VIDEO DRIVERS

If you are having video problems while using ReachOut and are using a
third party video driver, switch to standard Windows SVGA and try
using ReachOut again. If it works correctly, check with the
manufacturer of your video card to see if there is an updated driver.
If not, you can use the Windows SVGA driver with ReachOut.

Some video modes may cause the viewer to lose the prompt in a DOS
session running under Windows. If this happens, press ALT+ENTER to
reduce the DOS session to a window. The DOS prompt will reappear.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

6. SCREEN SAVERS

If you want a screen saver to be activated on the Host, minimize the
ReachOut Host window while it waits for a connection.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

7. TERMINAL EMULATOR

If your Viewer gets into Terminal Emulator mode by accident in the
middle of a session, your connection is probably unstable. Check the
Troubleshooting sections of ReachOut Help and the ReachOut User's
Guide for suggestions on fixing connection problems.

If you enter any numbers, use the standard number keys rather than
the keypad. The keypad keys are interpreted as cursor movements no
matter what the setting of NumLock.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

8. PEN MOUSE DRIVERS

If you have trouble using your pen mouse, try it with the standard
Windows Mouse Driver.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

9. PUBLIC INSTALLS

If you are having problems doing a public install in DOS, try it in
Windows by choosing Run from the File menu and entering INSTALL
PUBLIC. If you are upgrading ReachOut, first remove ReachOut from
your computer.

You may need to enter license information the first time you run the
Host or the Viewer.

INSTALL PUBLIC will work on Windows 95 systems. However, the shared
network drive where ReachOut is stored must be mapped during the
public installation and during use of ReachOut. If you change the
drive letter to which the network drive is mapped, you'll need to
uninstall Reachout and run INSTALL PUBLIC again.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

10. CONNECTING FROM A DOS VIEWER

If you connect to a Host, then choose Exit to Local PC from the
Viewer's File menu, you will need to return to viewing mode before
starting Windows on the Host. While you are exited to the local PC,
you are still connected. Entering WIN to start Windows in this
situation starts your local copy of Windows; it will not allow you to
view the Host.

To return to viewing mode, change to the ReachOut directory, run
VIEW, and then press ESC to return to the Host.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

11. RUNNING WINDOWS DURING A DOS CONNECTION

If you connect to a DOS Host and then run Windows, you won't be able
to use ReachOut's Chat and File Manager until you start the Windows
Host program.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

12. REDIRECTING PRINTING FROM A WINDOWS 95 HOST (ReachOut 5.05)

Your package includes instructions for redirecting printing from a
Windows 95 Host. If you have mislaid them, you can get a new copy from
StacFAX or download the technical note from Stac's download service or
web site (http://www.stac.com). Look for document 8515: Configuring
Remote Printing with ReachOut 5.05 and Windows 95. See the SUPPORT.TXT
file for StacFAX and download service phone numbers.
