                   Ornetix CD-ROM Extensions Driver
                            Version 1.10
                            Release Notes
                             August 1994

The driver (OCDX.EXE) provided with this package is intended to be
used in conjunction with Ornetix's CD-View, a CD-ROM networking
product. CD-View makes the CD-ROM drives appear to client
workstations as standard NetWare volumes.

OCDX was developed to overcome the following problems:

  * Some old applications require the Microsoft CD-ROM Extensions
(MSCDEX) loaded in order to be able to run. These applications use
some of MSCDEX's APIs. MSCDEX will not load on a workstation
which does not have a CD-ROM device driver (and CD-ROM drives)
connected to it. In addition, when MSCDEX loads, it allocates a
large memory buffer for its use. All of this is not required when
     using OCDX.

  * Other types of applications access the CD-ROM disc directly
through the device driver for either performance or security
     reasons.

Loading OCDX

When loaded, OCDX uses about 2KB of memory and emulates the
major functionality of both MSCDEX and a CD-ROM device driver.

To load OCDX, use the following command line:

  OCDX /L:<FromDrive>-<ToDrive>

The command line parameter defines the drive letters to emulate
as CD-ROM drives. You can define one drive or a range of drives
  (see example).

  Examples: /L:E Use drive E
                  /L:E-G Use drives E to G

  Other available command line parameters:
  /? - display help screen
  /U - unload OCDX

Running the Application

Before running an application which requires OCDX's functionality,
you must map (using NetWare's MAP command) the drive(s) used by
OCDX to the relevant disc(s) on the CD-View server. This will inform
OCDX which disc(s) are used by the application.
