Questions and Answers about Paint Shop Pro

Q) What do I need to use the 32 bit version of Paint Shop Pro?
A) You will need a 32 bit Windows operating system such as:
     1) Windows 95.
     2) Windows NT Version 3.51.
     3) Windows 3.1 or higher and Win32s 1.25 or higher.

Q) I am using the 32 bit version of Paint Shop Pro but I still can't
open an image larger than 16MB in size, why?
A) There are 2 possibilities:
     1) You are running Windows 3.1 with Win32s. This operating system
still has a 16MB limitation, even when running a 32 bit program.
     2) You don't have enough memory installed on the system to load a
larger image. You may try increasing your swapfile size if
available, or you may need to add more memory to your system.

Q) How do I get my TWAIN scanner to work with the 32 bit version?
A) If the Acquire and Select Source menu items are not available in the
32 bit version but they are available in the 16 bit version, you
must install the 32 bit TWAIN drivers. The TWAIN working group has
released a new version of TWAIN that allows 32 bit programs to use
16 and 32 bit data sources (scanner drivers). You can call your scanner
manufacturer for their newest drivers or try one of the many online
services (including the JASC BBS) for the newest TWAIN drivers.

Q) I have Windows 95, but the 16 bit version of Paint Shop Pro does not
show me my long filenames, why?
A) 16 bit programs, even under Windows 95, only see the short versions
of your filenames. If you have Windows 95 you should be using the 32
   bit version of the program.

Q) When I switch between browsing directories with the 16 bit browser and
the 32 bit browser, the 16 bit version always has to rebuild the albums,
   why?
A) The 32 bit version of the browser stores long filenames and the 16 bit
version does not (see above). The 32 bit version can upgrade the short
filename albums to long ones but the 16 bit version can not read them.
Therefore they have to be rebuilt by the 16 bit version.

Q) Where can I get the latest version of Paint Shop Pro?
A) JASC generally makes maintenance releases freely available to
registered users via download. The most common sources are:
    1) Compuserve - (Go JASC, Library 19)
    2) JASC, Inc. BBS - (612) 930-3516
    3) Internet - ftp.jasc.com /pub or www.jasc.com
For a minimal fee, registered users may also order these updates
directly from JASC, Inc. by calling (800) 622-2793.
