TRANSFERRING EUDORA EMAIL INTO AGENT

Transferring your Eudora email into Agent is a 2-step process.
First, you convert your Eudora email into a DOS file. Then, in
Agent, you import this file. Here's how to do each step.

1. How to execute the converter:

The converter is a DOS program (sorry ... we have not yet put an
elegant user interface on it). The command syntax is:

emailcvt <data directory> <output filename> [<folder prefix>]

where <data directory> is your Eudora database directory and <output
filename> is the name of the DOS file that contains the file Agent
will read. We recommend that the file extension be .txt, but this is
not required. The argument <folder prefix> is optional. If provided,
it is appended to the beginning of all folder names that Agent
creates during the import. For example, if the argument was "Eudora",
then email would be imported into folders called "Eudora. In",
"Eudora.Out", etc.

The converter handles hierarchies by concatenating the folder and
mailbox names with dots between them. If you had a mailbox called
"Music" in a folder called "Personal", the messages would be given an
"X-Folder" name of "Personal.Music".

2. How to import the intermediate file into Agent:

In Agent, from the File menu, select "Import Messages...". Use the
dialog box to select the intermediate file you created in step 1.
The Import Messages dialog lets you select the destination folders
(i.e., the folders Agent will create), with the following options:

- "File according to import message filters" causes Agent to use the
filing filters defined in the Inbound Email dialog. This option is
grayed if you have not yet opened the Inbound Email dialog and
designated a default inbound folder.

- "Put all messages in folder <x>" causes Agent to put all messages
in the specified folder. The very first time you run this dialog,
the folder defaults to your default inbound folder.

- If "... X-Folder" option is checked, Agent will file the messages
in the folders specified by the "X-Folder" fields in the file,
overriding the other preference settings on the dialog. If
"Automatically Create Folders" is checked, Agent will create these
folders as needed.

To best preserve your Eudora folder structure, set the "... X-Folder"
and "Automatically Create Folders" options.
