HOW TO GET WAREZ FROM THE INTERNET

Ok, This is for people who really don't knowwhat is involved
in getting warez from the Internet. It's easy, it's fun, your
gonna learn all about it. Ok let's start with a nice little
checklist of what you need in order to do this.

        - An Internet Account
        - A Terminal Program (If you don't have this stop reading now)
        - Knowledge of UNIX would help, but I'll tell you what you need
          to know
        - An IRC script would be a good thing as well. Not necessary but
defiantely a plus. I have at least 2 on my board.

That's about it people. Some harddrive space wouldn't hurt either.
        Ok :

Step 1: Load up your terminal program. I use terminate but it means
          dick which one you choose.
Step 2: Dial up your provider (or the provider of the guys acocunt
          your using.
Step 3: Choose IRC from the menu available.
Your provider may vary as the three locals I have used
(MGL, Golden Triangle, and Waterloo I-Net Co-Op) are all
different, but if you can do up your zipper in the morning,
you should be able to figure your way though it.
Step 4: Choose an IRC server, Either type in one of your choice, or your
provider will have a list of them for you. Some good ones I
          have used are - IRC-2.TEXAS.NET, IRC.EPIX.NET, and IRC2.EPIX.NET
Step 5: Once connected, if you have an IRC script load it. (Instructions
on using/loading Scripts included at end)
Step 6: Join a Warez channel. Some good ones are #fatefiles and #fifofiles
all releasing and couriering group usually run their own channels
as well simply use the group name as the channel name i.e. #nfs
These channels will usually contain the most recent releases of
each group. To join the channel simply type '/join #channelname'
          Not a challenge.
Step 7: Once in the channel type '/who *dcc' this will list DCC suppliers
in the channel. These are the guys offering the warez.
Step 8: Pick someone, there'll probably be a few.
          Type '/msg (guysname) XDCC LIST
This will give you a listing of the warez this guy is offering.
Step 9: Pick the shit you want. It will be numbers i.e. Pack #1, #2, #3
etc. And type in the following
'/msg (guysname) XDCC GET #? (?=# of pack you want)
Step 10: Now is the time Scripts really come in handy. I am going to
assume you are using PHOENIX Script w/ Fluff Mods. (This is
          available on Serotonin)
Step 11: Type '/dcc' to get a current status of your DCC transfer. You
can get as many packs at once as you like so long as your provider
has the HD space to hold it (I'll explain this in a minute)
Step 12: Now what you are doing is using you providers direct connection to
leech. You should be getting between 3 & 50k per second (this
depends on alot). These files are NOT going to your HD. They are
going to your providers HD. Your best bet you be to call your
provider voice before hand and ask how much HD space you have
          available to you.
Step 13: Grab everythin you want/can hold on your providers HD. Remember
to find the progress of your transfer type '/dcc'. When it is
complete type '/quit' to leave the channel and IRC completely.
Step 14: When back at your providers menu shell to UNIX. This will either
be a menu option or simply type 'SHELL'.
Step 15: Now comes the UNIX part. Type 'ls' or 'list' for a list of the
files that are in your own DIR at your provider. 'list' is much
           more informative.
Step 16: See that nice big list of all the shit you just leeched? Now you
wanna get it to you own HD. Easy. Type 'SZ' followed by the
file mask. i.e. 'sz ror*.*'. On Golden Triangle this is a
          standard error-correcting, resume-aborted Zmodem transfer.
Step 17: 99.999% of the providers are MUCH happier with you if you clean
out your DIR after you have leeched the shit. Type 'rm ror*.*'
RM = UNIX equvilant of the DEL command
Step 18: You have all these nice new warez on you HD leeched straight off
the Inet, more than likely no more than 3 days old. What do you
do with them? Why upload the the to Serotonin of course.

Ok, That wasn't hard was it? That is the VEERY basics of what to
do. There are hundreds more options in IRC. You can learn these as you
it would take me alot of pages to describe it to you.

LOADING AN IRC SCRIPT

My example will be Pheonix Script w/ Fluff Mods. This is available
from my board. It is not a hard thing to run but makes life AMAZINGLY
easier. Simply download it from me (or wherever) and when you connect
to your provider SHELL immidiately to UNIX and type 'rz'. Obviously
receive Zmodem. And upload it to your DIR at your provider. You need
only do this once unless your provider likes to clean out peoples DIR's
or the guys account your using doesn't know what it is so toasts it.
From there load up IRC, logon to a server. Once on a server type
'/load (scriptname)' And VOILA, the script is loaded. Then join the
channel you want to an continue on.

FINAL NOTES

If you have problems and downloaded this from Serotonin simply leave
me some mail (Servility). I will be happy to help you with anything you
may need help with. It has been about 2 or 3 months since I had an
account to use so my memory may be a little off (but I'm doubting it).
Other than that, nothing much, have fun and help our slow little area
   (519) get some more quantity pumping through here.
