Thanks for all your feedback and bug reports. Each bug report has been
logged and tested. Most of the reported bugs from Beta 2 have been
fixed, and we are getting very close to a final release of the product.


I. TESTING METHODOLOGY.........................................
 
If you reported a bug in Beta 2, install this release and see if has
fixed your problem (first check the "Still Pending" sections of this
email to see if we are still working on it). If not, just send a quick
note to "beta@scitechsoft.com" to let us know which bug report you are
referring to and that the problem still exists.

Please perform the following tests on your hardware configuration to
verify that the SciTech Display Doctor is functioning properly.

1. Install SciTech Display Doctor on your system.
2. Verify that your configuration was properly detected
3. Drop to DOS and run VBETEST
4. Do a "Full Compliance Test" (report any errors to us)
5. Run the Windows Compatibility Test and select several video modes 
6. Test the power management features 
7. Run the Windows performance profiler and test a few modes
8. Run the Windows centering utility, change refresh rates 
9. Run the Full Screen AVI Player (if you need a video, try using
   the videos on the Windows 95 CD (\funstuff\videos\highperf).

II. LIST OF SUPPORTED CHIPS................................

We have done countless fixups to our existing device support and we
have added or fixed support for a number of new chipsets. At this
stage the only outstanding chip to be supported is the Imagine I128
and I128 series II, and we hope to have this supported before the
final beta release.

We have also updated a lot of the code, adding enhanced linear
framebuffer support code for many chips, including the NCR 77C32BLT,
WD90C33 and Diamond Viper PCI.

There are some new chips (mostly ones that are just becoming
available) that we are currently planning on supporting in the
5.3 release, that are not supported in 5.2 (due to a lack of boards,
specs and/or time):

In addition to updated device support, we have also added a number
of new features, and fixed numerous reported bugs. The following
is a brief list of the most important ones (please test the

V. PROBLEMS STILL PENDING....................................

The following is a list of known problems that are still pending
fixes, and we do hope to get fixed before the final release:

 . <ctrl> keys don't work in Windows centering utility
 . 512x384x24 sync problems on some cards
 . Addition of Number Nine I128 support
 . Option to reboot after install
 . Updated documentation and help files


VI. KNOWN PROBLEMS...........................................

The following is a list of known problems, and these problems will
probably not be fixed for the final release:

 . ATI Mach64-CT and ET chips relocateable IO support
 . 4 bit modes on ATI Mach64-CT and ET chips do not work
 . On some card, the hardware cursor is destroyed when returning
   from fullscreen modes. Disabling the hardware cursor will fix
   this problem under Win95.
