Common Questions Regarding Hurricane:

Q: What is Hurricane?
A: Hurricane is a Windows-only utility designed to speed up
Windows, and provide more memory and more resources to
Windows applications.

Q: Does Hurricane (or any of these other products) really double
my RAM?
A: Yes and No. The reason you want more RAM is either to
have your system run faster, or to allow you to run more or larger
programs. Hurricane is the only one of the "RAM doubling"
products that actually achieves ALL these goals. But, even so, it is
not completely the same as adding RAM to your system. If the
reason you want to add RAM is that you have a single application
that requires substantially more real RAM, say to edit a huge
image, then there is no software substitute, and you should doubt
any claim to the contrary.

Q: Does Hurricane replace my Memory Manager (such as
Netroom or MemMaker)?
A: No, Hurricane works only in Windows and only for Windows
programs. Hurricane works together with DOS Memory
Managers, but does not replace their functionality. If you need
more Conventional memory for DOS programs or games, even
running inside a Windows DOS Box, you still need your DOS
memory manager. In fact, Hurricane interfaces with DOS memory
managers to provide access to upper memory for Windows programs.

Q: Is Hurricane compatible with the Windows 95 pre-release?
A: No. Hurricane's tools are closely integrated into Windows,
and the Windows 95 betas are still changing. Once Windows 95
stabilizes more, and is closer to shipment, we will be
able to convert Hurricane to work with Windows 95, and we'll
ship a Windows 95 version shortly after Windows 95 ships.
Registered users of Hurricane will receive a free Hurricane
upgrade to the Windows 95 version.

Q: How does Hurricane get me more memory?
A: Hurricane provides more memory in two ways.
First Hurricane provides virtually unlimited system
resources. This is accomplished by dynamically mapping system
resources in and out of the 64K resource heaps, and by allocating
the heaps on a per-application basis.
Second, Hurricane provides more physical memory
(RAM) in three ways: 1. Hurricane searches your programs for
unused	regions and "discards" them, re-loading them as needed
from the program's .EXE file. 2. Hurricane locates unused
ranges of memory and compresses them and returns the memory
to the common pool. 3. Hurricane provides "memory sharing"
which allows your applications to use all of your memory, when
they need to, and the caching and spooling software to use the
memory when the applications don't need it.
The end result is that in a multiple-application
environment, the active application gets more than double the
memory that it would get normally. And, when you run a single
large program it gets the most and most efficient use of the
memory you have.

Q: How much is Hurricane, and where can I get it?
A: Hurricane has a suggested retail price of $79.95 and is
available at better dealers everywhere.
