3.0  Known Problems
===================

X OnNet32 for Windows 95 has the following known problems:

If you are installing version 4.0 as an upgrade, client icons in your X OnNet program group will change. During installation, the icon name you specified will be replaced with the name of the host this client originates from and the name of the application. You can use the newly installed Control Panel to rename your icons to the ones you specified before the upgrade. Simply select the application from the Control Panel and use the new Edit function to enter the icon description that you want.

XDM Broadcast works with standard Class A, B, and C networks, but may fail with non-standard subnet masks.

The Microsoft Windows root window is not updated when X Windows programs draw to it. This causes programs writing to the root window to behave with unpredictable results. If you have programs that update the root window, enable the "X Root Background" configuration option.

If you are running MWM from csh and the variable "stty erase^h" is set in your .cshrc file, programs launched from the root menu will appear to hang the system. Canceling the process that was launched from the root window will return the system to normal. All X Windows programs can be safely run directly; running them from the root window causes this behavior.

The rlogin startup method may not always be successful on the first attempt; although subsequent attempts will connect. To correct this problem, remove the ogin: entry from the User Prompt field in the Custom dialog inside the Program Properties dialog.

The Back selection does not work if you are using the OLWM window manager.

When you open Report Writer, then do a File Open, which displays the Load Report Format screen, you cannot resize that window. When you bring down the menu on that window, the only non-grayed out options are "move" and "close."

The uninstall program does not function correctly with the OnNet 2.0 release. This results in only a partial removal of the X OnNet32 package. Complete removal requires a system reboot and manual deletion of the install directory and program group.
