Welcome to WebFonts!

Overview

WebFonts allows you to create stunning headlines and text for
your WWW home pages. You simply pick a font and a color, enter
the text of your headline, and WebFonts generates the graphics
files and HTML source code for you. There's never been an
easier way to look good on the Internet.

Webfonts headlines are optimized for loading speed. The files

faster than files generated by various paint programs.

Webfonts is the fast and easy way to generate quick loading
headline fonts for the World Wide Web. Enjoy it!

New for version 1.1

- Fonts and Colors now appear on-screen as they do in the
browser.

- ALT= fields are now generated in the HTML source. This is
necessary for people who don't have graphical viewers, or who
have graphics turned off in their browser.

How to Create a Headline

The best way to learn is to follow an example. How about
putting your name in lights?

1) Load WebFonts by double-clicking on the WebFonts icon, or
execute it from the File Manager.

2) Type in your name.

3) Select Text, Font from the menu, and choose the typestyle
which you'd like to have your name in.

4) Select Text, Color from the menu, and choose the color of the text.

5) Select File, Save As from the menu. Call this file TEST.WEB

6) Select Text, Generate HTML. In a few seconds, your graphics
and HTML source code will be created. Two files will be
created: TEST.GIF is the graphics image, and TEST.HTM is the
HTML source code to include in your Web page. Since you will
probably want to add headlines to an existing page, you can
look at TEST.HTM in any text editor, and copy the HTML source
code into your Web document.

7) If you want to see how the headline looks in your browser,
most browsers will let you view local files. For example, from
NetScape, select File, Open File, change to the directory where
your WebFonts files are located, and enter TEST.HTM. You will
see the headline you created as it will appear in the browser.

That's it! Pretty easy, huh?

Other Features and Hints

Individual Character GIFs

If you select Text, Individual Character GIFs from the menu,
your generated headlines will be composed of individual
character GIFs, instead of one image for the entire headline.
Normally, you will not need to use this feature, but if you
have an application that requires a lot of special text, you
may get better performance with this option.

**************

Blank Lines

Currently, this version of WebFonts does not support generating
headlines with more than one line.

**************

Save Your Headlines!

In the example above, we saved the headline we created in a
file called TEST.WEB. You can create lots of different WEB
files as a way of quickly locating and modifying your
headlines.
