Installing Multi-Edit for Windows

A licensed version of Multi-Edit has been placed on the network with a standard configuration setup.

You should be aware of the following before installing:
1. Read these instructions first to get an overall feel of what you will be doing.
2. Files checked out of version control through Multi-Edit (you don't have to unlock).
2. Your VCSID (as set in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file).
3. Drive Space Requirement is 7.0 Megabytes.

Step 1.	Make sure Multi-Edit is not currently running and then DELTREE the MEW directory.
American Cybernetics strongly recommends that new versions of Multi-Edit not be installed over pre-existing versions.

Step 2.	Make sure you are on drive "C". If you want to place Multi-Edit on a drive other than "C" you will need to reconfigure the setup options to point to the correct drive (Randy Burgess will assist you in this).
	MD C:\MEW
	CD C:\MEW
	COPY H:\UTILITY\MEW\MEW71A.ZIP

Step 3.	PKUNZIP -d MEW71A.ZIP
Be sure to use the "-d" switch as there are supporting subdirectories under MEW that are required for proper operation. If the operation was successful then delete the MEW.ZIP file and continue , otherwise contact Randy Burgess.

Step 4.	Win95 Users:
Create a shortcut with a command line of C:\MEW\MEW.EXE and a shortcut name of
		Multi-Edit.
	Windows 3.11 Users:
Activate the group where you want Multi-Edit to be installed by clicking on the window.
		Select menu option File/New/Program Item.
Set the description field to: Multi-Edit
Set the command line field to: C:\MEW\MEW.EXE
Set the working directory field to:	C:\MEW
Select the change icon button and select the MEW 7.1 icon.

Step 5.	Run Multi-Edit.
The following step will guide you in setting up Multi-Edit for use with the PVCS Version Control Package. DO NOT MODIFY ANY SETTINGS OTHER THAN THE ONES OUTLINED IN THIS STEP.
		1. Click 'Vcs' from the main menu bar at the top of the screen.
		2. Click 'Configure'.
		3. Click the button under 'VCS Pkg'
		4. Highlight the 'PVCS' entry and click Edit.
		5. Tab to the 'User ID' field and enter your VCSID.
This is the same as the entry in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file (remember that CASE IS IMPORTANT).
		6. Click OK.
		7. Click Select.
		8. Click OK.
