                             Introduction

Your PC has many complex system parameters, card settings, and
configuration files. These can become lost, corrupted, or improperly
set for many reasons, such as the installation of new software or
cards, viruses, or editing. Your PC may then act weird or even refuse
to boot up.

PC911 can be a life-saver in such situations. It will let you:

Restore your PC's setup if it will not boot up.
Go back to a previously working setup.

You might run into another type of problem when you install new cards.
The settings (IRQ, DMA, etc.) on the card can conflict with other
cards in the PC so devices don't work or the PC locks up.
PC911 is unique in its ability to detect most card settings even
before the card is activated, so it can alert you to potential
conflicts. It will:

Detect cards and help resolve conflicts.

PC911 is remarkably easy to use! It runs automatically whenever you
boot up your PC to check for changes in your PC's setup and takes
necessary actions. And it does NOT stay resident in memory so it does
not affect your use of the PC in any way.

                           INSTALLING PC911

PC911 requires an empty, formatted disk to create the Emergency Disk
for your PC.

 1. Insert the original PC911 diskette into your PC in drive A (or B).
Make sure the disk is not write-protected.

2a. DOS From the DOS prompt, run PC911:
C:\> A:PC911 (if the disk is in drive A)

  -- Or --

2b. Windows: In Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu. Type
A:\PC911 (if the disk is in drive A).

 3. Follow the instructions that appear on screen.

 4. PC911 adds a line at the end of AUTOEXEC.BAT. If your PC is set up
to automatically start Windows or a menu program when you boot up,
you should edit AUTOEXEC.BAT to make sure PC911 runs before that.

After installation, remove the Emergency Disk and keep it in a secure
place.

                           UNINSTALLING PC911

If you need to remove PC911 for any reason:

 1. Insert the original PC911 diskette into your PC.

 2. Run UNINSTAL: C:\> A:UNINSTAL
P
C911 will remove all the directories and entries that it created.

do register to receive information regarding upgrades.
