TOP Of MIND Help Desk for Windows Ver 3.3

*** Important Note ***

Before running TOP Of MIND, check to see if a file called TOMWIN.MST exists
in your program directory. In some PCs, the boot sequence may inadvertantly
delete this file. If it is not in your program directory, you can call our
technical services department for assistance or you can perform the
following procedure:

    1. Go out to DOS using the MS-DOS icon.

    2. Insert TOP Of MIND diskette #1 in your floppy drive and type:

       COPY A:TOMWIN.MST C:\TOMWIN33 <enter>

(Substitute the appropriate floppy letter for 'A:' and your TOP
       Of MIND directory for 'C:\TOMWIN33'.)

    3. Return to Windows by typing

       exit <enter>

If you see a message regarding the 'Master Workstation' when you run TOP Of
MIND for the first time, call (201) 884-2040 for assistance.

Installing on Multiple Workstations
-----------------------------------

To install TOP Of MIND on additional workstations, you must:

	1. Run TOP Of MIND and contact TMG for access codes
	2. In TOP Of MIND, select "Maintenance" and "Install Mode"
	   and click OK.
	3. On other workstations, delete any earlier versions of
TOP Of MIND and run WSSETUP.EXE from your Lan TOP Of MIND
	   directory using File Manager.

If this is the first time that you have installed TOP Of MIND, please
note the following configuration changes you MUST make to your system:

---------------------------------
REQUIRED FOR NOVELL NETWORK USERS
---------------------------------
The SHELL.CFG or NET.CFG file must have the line:

    file handles = 100

with the spelling EXACTLY as shown above. There must be either a SHELL.CFG
or NET.CFG, but not both. If both exist, SHELL.CFG will be ignored. The
file SHELL.CFG MUST be in the same directory as the IPX.COM or NETX.COM
file. Also, the directory containing the SHELL.CFG and IPX MUST be the
current directory in AUTOEXEC.BAT before running IPX or NETX. This must be
done for every workstation that uses TOP Of MIND.

-------------------------------
REQUIRED FOR BANYAN VINES USERS
-------------------------------
For Banyan Vines, run PCCONFIG from the network directory on the C: drive,
select "Log In Environment Settings", select "Set Maximum Number of Open
Files", type in 100, press F10 until you exit the program. This must be
done for every workstation that uses TOP Of MIND.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
For further technical assistance, consult the troubleshooting guide
named TROUBLE.TXT located in your Lan TOP Of MIND directory.

-----------------------------------------------------------
IF YOU ARE UPGRADING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION OF TOP OF MIND
-----------------------------------------------------------
Note that there are several changes to the system in Version 3.3 that are
implemented by changing the DATA files -- NOT the program executable. These
include the addition of the inherited Client Phone Number field and the
Group field in the Case Window, as well as the field in the Client Window
that accepts the NetCensus (tm) IDs. These changes are contained in the
data file called PO.DBF.

Generally, updating from Version 3.2 to 3.3 will entail replacing ONLY the
executable program file, TOMWIN32.EXE and updating TOMWIN.INI. You will not
replace your PO.DBF file. This will mean that, when the new TOMWIN33.EXE is
"pointed" at your existing data files, they will not contain the changes and
you will not see the Phone, Group or NetCensus ID fields. If you want to
use these new fields, you must either replace your old PO.DBF with the new
one that comes with TOP Of MIND 3.3, or create the new fields manually.

If you already have made significant changes to the fields in TOP Of MIND,
using the Visual Application Composer or the Prompt Object forms, you may
not want to use the new PO.DBF, as you will lose the changes you have made.
Call TMG Technical Support for help in adding the new fields. If you wish
to add just the Client Phone field, ask for Technical Bulletin No. 1, which
describes how to add an inherited field.
