=====================================================================
1. INSIDE THE MANUAL FOLDER ON YOUR LANTASTIC FOR WINDOWS 95 CD
=====================================================================

When you buy LANtastic for Windows 95, you get one printed copy of Installing
and Using LANtastic for Windows 95 for everyone to share. If you want to have
your own online copy available on your hard disk, you can use the one that
comes in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) on your LANtastic
for Windows 95 CD. You'll also find an alphabetical table of error messages
in PDF. Both of these documents are located in the Manual folder.

To view these documents, follow these steps:

	1. Put the LANtastic for Windows 95 CD into your CD-ROM drive.

	2. Close all Windows 95 applications, then click Start, Run.

	3. Type in D:\MANUAL\ACROREAD where D: is your CD-ROM drive letter,
	   then click OK.

	4. Because Artisoft has met Adobe's licensing requirements, simply
 	   click Accept or press Enter to continue past the licensing screen.

	5. Click Install or press Enter to accept the default installation
	   path, then click OK to continue past the registration card message.

	6. Type in your name and press the Tab key, then type your
	   organization name and press Enter.

	7. When the installation is finished and Windows restarts, open
	   ACROREAD.EXE in your ACROREAD folder.

	8. To view a document, click the File menu and click Open. Find
 	   your CD-ROM drive in the Drives field by selecting or typing
 	   in the path D:\MANUAL\ACROREAD where D: is your CD-ROM drive
	   letter. The documents will appear in the File List field.

	9. Double-click the document you want to view.

Once you've opened a document from Acrobat Reader, as described in the
preceding section, follow these steps to use it:

	1. Click the View menu, then click Bookmarks and Page. In the
	   manual, a list of chapters and appendices appears on the left side
	   of your screen. You'll see a similar list in the error messages
	   document. You can enlarge the Bookmarks window by dragging
	   the double-triangle icon (next to the lower right corner of that
	   window) to the right.

	2. Click the triangle to the left of a listing in the Bookmarks
	   window to see its subsections.

As you move your cursor around in the Bookmarks window, it sometimes turns
into a pointing finger. Any time it does this, you can click once and go
directly to the section the finger is pointing at. All cross references
inside the manual are linked (e.g., "refer to page 35"), as are all table
of contents and index entries.

2. INSTALLATION TIPS
====================

-----------------------------------
Installing and configuring adapters

Youll find complete instructions for installing and configuring your adapter in
the Installing and Using LANtastic for Windows 95 manual.

NOTE: Its a good idea to install and configure your adapter driver BEFORE
you install LANtastic for Windows 95. If you accidentally select the wrong
adapter driver during the LANtastic Setup, when the Select Network Adapters
window appears, you wont be able to change your choice during the rest of the
installation. Youll need to wait until installation is complete, and then remove
all the network components using the Network property sheets. (See Removing
LANtastic for Windows 95 under section 4. Troubleshooting.) Make sure the
appropriate adapter is installed and configured, and then reinstall LANtastic
for Windows 95.

--------------------------
Canceling the installation

You may want to cancel installation of LANtastic for Windows 95 for some reason.
If you click Cancel during the process, but setup continues, wait until the
installation is complete. You may get a series of error messages during and after
the installation. When the installation is complete, click Start, Settings,
Control Panel. Double-click Network and remove all network components. Then
reinstall LANtastic for Windows 95.

---------------------
Working with DRVSPACE

Windows 95 features DRVSPACE, a program that compresses your files to save
space. The program also creates a virtual, uncompressed drive, usually H:. This
drive may appear in the My Computer window, or as a network resource in the Share
Drives and Printers window.

Because the uncompressed drive is relatively "small," it's best not to use it
as a resource. Instead, you should hide it or delete it. For instructions on hiding
a drive, see your Windows 95 documentation. To delete it from your LANtastic
resource list, click the Share Drives and Printers button in the Manage Servers
page. Click the uncompressed drive (usually H:)you want to remove, and then click
Delete.

==================================================
3. DISCONNECTING DRIVES AND PRINTERS -- CORRECTION
==================================================

The Installing and Using LANtastic for Windows 95 manual states that if
you want to permanently disconnect a drive or printer, you should make
sure the "Remember Next Connection Made" check box is checked before
you disconnect it. This is unnecessary. All disconnections are permanent,
regardless of whether the check box is checked. These statements in the
manual appear on pages 35 (step 2), 36 (step 2) and 63 (step 5).

===================================================
4. USING WINDOWS 95 ADVANCED POWER MANAGEMENT (APM)
===================================================

When you try to use Windows 95 Advanced Power Management (APM) on a
computer running LANtastic for Windows 95, all connections to LANtastic
servers are lost. You won't be able to make any new connections. To
avoid this problem, disable APM on the LANtastic for Windows 95 computer.

====================================
5. TESTING YOUR NETWORK WITH LANCHECK
=====================================

The LANCHECK program that comes with the LANtastic for Windows 95
software allows you to test network communication and adapter
operation. You'll find two versions of LANCHECK in the Support directory
on your LANtastic for Windows 95 CD. An updated DOS version called
LANCHECK.EXE for your DOS and Windows 3.x computers, and a Windows 95
version called LCHECK.EXE. Install LCHECK.EXE on all your Windows 95
computers, and update the older versions of LANCHECK on your DOS and
Windows 3.x machines. Don't use the DOS-based LANCHECK on a Windows 95
computer.

You must run LANCHECK on each network computer you want to test.
To do this, complete the following steps at each computer:

	1. Open Windows Explorer and double-click your CD-ROM drive
	   folder. Double-click the Support folder. The file
	   LCHECK.EXE will appear in the Contents of field. If
	   you've already installed LANtastic for Windows
	   95, you can copy the file into your C:\LANTASTI\WIN95
	   program directory by dragging it into that folder.

	2. Double-click LCHECK.EXE.

	3. Type LANCHECK [computername] <Enter>. The LANCHECK main
	   screen appears.

Refer to your LANtastic v.5.x or 6.x documentation for details
about using LANCHECK.
