This is the bewares list for the 4.10 release of WorkForce Desktop and
WorkShop

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General
The installation of WFD 4.10 on a PC running Windows 95 puts the Workshop.grp
and Desktop.grp files into the Start/Program directory. If a previous version
of these files has been moved to the desktop, WFD will not find or remove
them. Please delete these group boxes manually or overwrite them with the
current version. The two group boxes will be identical with previous releases
if the same options are installed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Display/Video Driver Caveat]
(STR 31928)
Certain video drivers (such as the ATI mach 64) generate errors (116,1,604 -
"PixmRectPaint: Not Enough Memory) when display uses Scale to Gray mode.
The fix has been released but to use the fix, the user must enter the
following information in the [PCWS] section of their LOGON.CFG file:
	UseDDB=0
This should only be done on PCs that are using a video driver that is known
to have this problem (the ATI mach 64 is the only known culprit at this
time). No changes to the LOGON.CFG file need to be made on other PCs.

Display (Margin Notes)
(STR 27943)
Any user running Russian Windows has an additional entry that can be made
in the LOGON.CFG file. This will allow the user to specify the correct
character set to be used for creating Margin Notes with a Cyrillic font
set. The entry should be added to the PCWS section as follows:
	[PCWS]
	FontType=Courier New Cyr
This information is also documented in the STR.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[DDE calls with OFFICE 95]

The following changes may need to be made to WorkFlo scripts if they are
using DDE calls with Office95. Some of the commands that are sent through
the "DDE Execute" call that worked with WORD 2.0 have been changed since
WORD 6.0. Also the WORD document title has changed. In the previous WORD
version, when a document was opened, the name as well as the path of the
document was shown on the title bar. WORD 6.0 and above only show the name
of the document. For example:

    In WORD 2.0: 'Microsoft Word - \msoffice\winword\MKTGLTR.DOC'
In WORD 6.0 and above: 'Microsoft Word - Mktgltr.doc'

EXCEL ran fine with DDE calls.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Doc Entry]

Autoindexing (character string limitations):
You are only allowed to use 238 characters when autoindexing
a document. If you use more than 238 characters, but less than 256,
you will get an error "88,0,49 BES: Invalid image index". If you
use more than 256 characters, you will not get an error and none
of your indexing data will be passed to Doc Entry.
STR 31950

Autoindexing (null fields):
Currently all non-required index fields that are null require
the user to pass through the Indexing phase before the batch
proceeds to Committal. (STR 32527) However, an SEP has been
written for a later release to allow non-required autoindexed
fields that are null to proceed to the Committal process. The
user would still be able to force any null autoindexed field
through indexing by simply configuring the Doc Class field to
be required. SEP 3110

Autonaming of Batches (using String Setup):
The user should not use the date string "12hr+am/pm"
as a Batch Name Extension. The string output contains a
space between the time and the am/pm characters.
This space would create an illegal batch name that will
fail when moving through Doc Entry.

Background Transfers:
Do not attempt to add images to a batch that has already had
Background Transfer started. Traces of a partially
transferred batch found locally or on the IMS will most
likely cause a GPF if the same batch is selected for
additional scanning and subsequent transfer.
STRs 30903 and 31128

Background Transfers (Document Class selection):
Off-line batch transfers can fail with an error, <28,0,3026>
SCACHE: No Document Class specified, if the user has enqueued a
batch that has no Doc Class or an invalid Doc Class specified.
Doc Entry depends upon checking the IMS database to validate a
Doc Class. Should the user receive the SCACHE error it will be
necessary to delete the batch from the Background Transfer Window
and then reinitiate the transfer from the Cache window once the
user has logged on to the target IMS system. This action will
allow Doc Entry to validate the Doc Class or give the user a list of
valid Doc Classes as found on the IMS.
STR 31734 and STR 32085

Background Transfers (high volume):
Background Transfers enqueues should be limited to under 190mb
at a time. Exceeding this limit may cause a memory allocation
error. Corruption in the batch being processed can occur in this
case. STR 32335

Background Transfers (SCSize):
The default configuration for Off-line Scanning will be
satisfactory for most users. When above average space is
allocated for Off-line Scanning it is recommended that the
user not set the SCSize to a value greater than half the
available disk space used. Further fine tuning can be done
from that figure. STR 32336

Correct Assembly (display):
Correct Assembly can display an image via the spectacles in the
Tool Box or by Double Clicking on a page in the batch stack.
The first time display is used on a new batch the user will be
presented with the first image in the batch no matter what image
was selected for display. Any subsequent selections for display
will correctly return the requested image. STR 32617

Correct Assembly (display):
Correct Assembly display is limited when a new image has been
added to the stack using the scanner tool. The user will need
to close the diplay window before attempting to display a new
image scanned in through Correct Assembly. Attempting to display
a new image with display already open could result in the
inability of the new image to display. STR 32763

Correct Assembly (scroll):
Correct Assembly will lose the ability to effectively scroll
through a batch using the keyboard arrows after a new image is
added via the scanner tool. Mouse function with the thumbscroll
and arrows is effective and is suggested until the batch can
be assembled. STR 32755

Define Batch (Autoname):
The following error will only be experienced for users using
WF/Scan release 2.0.0. The Scan Panel has been expanded with
new features. Push Buttons for "End of Doc" and "End of Batch"
have been added. It has been found that a user using Autoname
through Define Batch in a Next Step sequence should not use the
Push Button "End of Batch" on the WF/Scan 2.0.0 Scan Panel.
The user can simply push the "Finish" button on the Scan Panel
when scanning is finished and proceed through the Next Steps
required for batch processing. STR 32670

Define Batch w/ Batch Totals:
Batch Totals Optional Verification should be the last selection
made when Defining a Batch. Any selections made in the Define
Batch Window after execution of the Batch Totals Definition Window
will be ignored. STR 32611

Define Batch (off-line scanning batch names):
At the present time off-line scanning does not restrict the user's
ability to create batch names that use what FileNet refers to as
illegal naming conventions. Users should only use alphanumeric
characters and underscores in naming batches. Users should refer to
the WorkForce Desktop User's Guide should they have any doubts as to
batch naming convention and other alphanumeric limitations. STR 29104

Image Verify (during scanning):
User can cause a freeze to occur in the image verify window by
clicking on Accept, Reject or the image verify area while the
image is painting. The system will appear frozen. The user
can simply click on the Accept, Reject or image area again and the
image display will continue painting and no processes will be
altered or stopped.

Migration:
Doc Entry is unable at the present time to override a Document
Class Migration setting located on the IMS. Migration to either
Optical Disk or Page_Cache must be set through the Document Class.
STR 32608

Off-Line Scanning (batch bulk limit):
It is possible to receive a GPF during off-line scanning if the
user attempts to exceeds the limit of 214 batches.
The SCACHE.DLL will GPF and the DE_CACHE\FNBxxx directory that
was created will be empty causing the user to rescan the images
intended for the 215th batch. STR 31755

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Host Interface]

Irma for the Mainframe 3.0:

When a session profile is saved with a window size that is maximized,
WFL "Open Host" call generates the following error:

<35,0,24> FWLIB: Error no emulation window.

The session is still opened successfully by "Open Host". (STR 32678)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Image View]
If you are installing a version of WFD over a copy of Image View, please
delete the program group box and all the files in the FileNet/Desktop
directory before starting the installation. The current installation
program cannot handle the change of the help files and the changing of
the group box title.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[OLE - Linking & Embedding]
The descriptive icon label implementation has been enhanced to
work for OLE2 embeds and links (and OLE1/Notes embeds). It
works for OLE1/Notes links as before.

NOTE: Support for descriptive icon labels for embeds is only
implemented because it is needed for descriptive icon labels
for links to work for some incorrectly coded OLE2 container
      applications (PowerPoint4 is an example).

NOTE: The descriptive icon label implementation for OLE1/Notes
embeds works, but has a annoyance problem (descriptive icon
label switches to "Image" icon label when activated and then
      updated or closed).

NOTE: The recommendation is to have descriptive icon label for
embeds turned OFF in LOGON.CFG (OLEDescriptiveEmbedIconLabel
      not present, or OLEDescriptiveEmbedIconLabel=0).

Other Comments:
An OLE1 Container can not specify to paste an embed or link as
an icon. The IDN enhanced Lotus-Notes OLE1 Container has
special SmartIcons and additions to the Tools menu that
through DDE can specify to paste an embedded or linked Image
        Display object as an icon.
Word6 and Excel5 do NOT support retrieving the icon from the
OLE2 server application. Enhancement will have no effect.
PowerPoint4 only supports retrieving the icon from the OLE2
        server application when OLEDescriptiveEmbedIconLabel=1, and
will then do it for links and embeds.

        LOGON.CFG entries:
              [PCWS]
              OLEDescriptiveLinkIconLabel=1
              OLEDescriptiveEmbedIconLabel=1 (new)

        When OLEDescriptiveLinkIconLabel=1, Image Display will
advertise the support of the icon format for links, and will,
when requested, create a metafile with the icon and the
        descriptive icon label. When OLEDescriptiveLinkIconLabel=0,
Image Display will NOT advertise the support of the icon
format for links, and most containers will not ask for it.
In the OLE1/Notes case the "Short User Type Name" (from
DISPIMG.REG) is used as the icon label:

OLE1/Notes - Using SmartIcon will give descriptive icon label.
        Word6 & Excel5 - Generates label itself.
        PowerPoint4 - Generates label itself.
CntrOutl - Will give descriptive icon label.

        When OLEDescriptiveEmbedIconLabel=1, Image Display will
advertise the support of the icon format for embeds, and
will, when requested, create a metafile with the icon and
the descriptive icon label. When OLEDescriptiveEmbedIconLabel=0,
Image Display will NOT advertise the support of the icon format
for embeds, and most containers will not ask for it. In the
OLE1/Notes case the "Short User Type Name" (from DISPIMG.REG)
is used as the icon label:
OLE1/Notes - Using SmartIcon will give descriptive icon label,
but when activated and updated or closed it will switch to
the "Short User Type Name". Save OLE1/Notes document
before activation to work around this annoyance.
        Word6 & Excel5 - Generates label itself.
PowerPoint4 - Will give descriptive icon label for both links
                      and embeds.
CntrOutl - Will give descriptive icon label.

        When OLEDescriptiveLinkIconLabel and/or
OLEDescriptiveEmbedIconLabel is turned on, properly working
OLE2 containers will default to "Display as Icon" in the Paste
Special dialog-box for links and/or embeds.

No change to SETUP is needed for this new feature, since
leaving OLEDescriptiveEmbedIconLabel out of the LOGON.CFG
file is the same as setting it to zero, which is closest in
behavior to how it currently works, and also probably what
might be the desired default for using it with a properly
        working OLE2 container.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Printing]
If you are running a 3.3.1 IMS, you can enter the Phone Extension and
Memo fields when making a print request. If you are not running the latest
version of the WorkFlo/Print software, these values will not be used and
you will not receive an error.

If you are doing dual-sided FileNet Printing, a new option with this release,
an open STR (#32695) documents the fact that multiple print jobs that request
the printing of annotations will not be assembled correctly. Jobs submitted
without annotations print correctly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Query Match Report]
The fix for STR 28496 requires the following entry be made in the
logon.cfg file. This is only required if a user is using Russian
windows:
		[Query Match Report]
		 Font=Courier New Cyr

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[SetUp DTM]:
Subject: DTM Localization (Resolution for WFD 4.1)

Certain portion of the [DTM] section in LOGON.CFG will not be localized.
Users will be allowed to customize all labels, such as "Sunday",
"August", "Mittwoch" (Wednesday) and "am pm".

Users will be allowed to customize their date/time masks, such as
(using today as an example) "Fri September 29, 1995" or "1995/9/29".

Users will not be allowed to customize their date-mask components,
such as "dd", "dayname" or "yyyy". All date-masks must be described
using the English tokens.

Because the tokens are not localized, date/time error messages will
contain the English tokens. System Administrators who want to provide
localized information for these errors can do so by adding 'help' to
these fields in the native language.

Sample LOGON.CFG (with comments):
