<< This is GALSIC.TXT, where you can put tech notes about your Worldgroup >>

For example...

The Galacticomm Demonstration System (305) 583-7808 runs Worldgroup server
software on a 90MHz Pentium with 16 megs of RAM and a 1 gigabyte hard disk.
The operating system is MS-DOS v6.22. Our Worldgroup server is connected to
a Novell Netware 3.11 File Server with all of its files located on the
network server drive. Communications hardware includes:

Novell SPX LAN connections serving our in-house employees,

20 Motorola v.34 modems (28,800 baud) serving our remote employees,
          customers, prospects and developers,

a Motorola UTA220k Terminal Adapter providing two ISDN connections,

an OST PCXNet Card and GDC Desktop 500A DSU providing DDS access to
          X.25 packet-switching networks, and

a Morning Star Express Router and Astrocom CSU/DSU linking us by a
fractional T1 connection to the Internet.

Users with Microsoft Windows can run Worldgroup Manager, a suite of client
applications, on their own PCs. WGM performs many tasks on its own such as
writing e-mail and forum messages. It requires a connection to a Worldgroup
server computer like the Demonstration System only to deliver completed
messages, and to perform scans for new messages/files users wish to browse.

Users without Microsoft Windows can communicate with the Demonstration
System in terminal mode (ASCII text, or ANSI or RIP graphics) through the
many traditional modem programs currently on the market, through Internet
programs such as telnet, ftp and World-Wide Web software, through Novell
NetWare connections via our own LAN program, SPXtalk, etc.

Tim Stryker and colleagues have written all of the software you are using
here: Worldgroup, FAX/Online, Dial-Out, Major Gateway/Internet, the Internet
Connectivity Option, etc. The software is written mostly in C using the
Borland C++ V4.5 compiler. The foundation-level code is written in highly
optimized assembler. Worldgroup also uses Btrieve, a database record manager
available from Btrieve Technologies, Inc.

A eight-user copy of Worldgroup, suitable for use with any Hayes-compatible
modem, is available for $595 from Galacticomm Inc., 4101 SW 47th Ave.,
Suite 101, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33314.

A copy of the Worldgroup Manager, Windows client-side software, is available
via download from the Demonstration System. Select option W from the main
menu for the Worldgroup menu.
