FIRST, THE BAD NEWS
I hate to start a brand new faq with bad news, but this is something that
everyone interested in this game needs to know. The final report is that
thre will be NO modem support for this game when it's released. According to
Sculptured Software, it was just too complicated of a task to have modem
support ready on the release date. They are working on a patch for it though
and it should be available at a later date.

WHEN'S THE RELEASE DATE?
The game is out now so go and look for it!:)

WHAT ARE THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS?
Here are the official ones:
486DX 33 or higher (Pentium Recommended)
Double Speed CD-ROM Drive or better (this game may come on floppy disks)
   MS-DOS 5.0 or higher
8 MB of RAM (16 Recommended)
Supports all major joysticks (no mouse support)
Supports Sound Blaster and 100% compatible cards
   VGA Graphics

Other notes:
 1) There is no guarantee that this game will run smoothly on your system
no matter how powerful it is. Although it seems to run alot better
than MK2, players that have high powered systems (one of them had a
P5-133 with 32 megs of RAM) have reported that the game runs slow on
their system. But on the other hand, some with a 486DX 33 have re-
ported that the game runs like a dream. The best way to make sure it
will run on your system is to download the demo. You can find it at
       ftp.rat.org /pub/mk/msdos/mk3demo.zip about 6.5 megs.
Other mk3 web site have this link so you may want to go from there.
2) I am playing this game on Windows 95 and it runs fine. But, the game
has to be run in MS-DOS mode (for me anyway).

GRAPHICS
This game is VGA only (no SVGA support) and this becomes obvious when you
see how dark the graphics are. The backgrounds and the characters are a
giant step above the 16-bit versions, everything is very detailed. The Sony
Playstation still has an edge over this one though.

SOUND AND MUSIC
In one word, the music and sound effects are truly "outstanding!"
The audio was sampled at 44kHz and is Red Book Audio. This means that
the music isre version specific, meaning, they won't work anywhere else, not
on the PSX, SNES, arcade, etc. SS plans to release most (but not all) of the
kodes and of course, you can check back here, as I will post them as soon as
they are revealed. There is supposed to be at least 50 them so PC players have
a lot to look forward to. And yes, this is KONFIRMED ...there WILL be kodes
that will let you play as Shao Kahn and Motaro!! There is no Ultimate Kombat
Kode to reach Smoke in this one. Instead, it is a 6 digit kode that is also
PC specific. From what I've heard, you will only need to enter this kode once,
just like in the arcade. There has also been some cool extras programmed in
"for the hell of it," so all players out there .. see what you can find!

======================
PC KODES
======================
SWEEPING DISABLED
2-3-9 4-9-4 or Yin Yang_3_Skull ?_Skull_?

PLAYER DOUBLE DAMAGE
5-2-2 0-0-0 or Dragon_Dragon_Dragon_Lightning_Lightning_Yin Yang
      (also 0-0-0 5-2-2)

PLAYER HEALING
1-0-1 0-0-0 or MK_Dragon_MK_Dragon_Dragon_Dragon
      (also 0-0-0 1-0-1)

PLAYER WEAKENING
2-0-2 0-0-0 or Yin Yang_Dragon_Yin Yang_Dragon_Dragon_Dragon
     (also 0-0-0 2-0-2)

----------------------
DOS PROMPT KODES
These are kodes that you type at the DOS prompt. Usually, you would type
in mk3 to execute the game, type in the following kodes instead:

mk3 0666 ACCESS SMOKE (Opponents tough)
mk3 666 ACCESS SMOKE (Opponents not so tough)
mk3 1995 ALL CHARACTERS INVISIBLE
mk3 8000 SUPER FAST TURBO MODE
mk3 9966 CHARACTERS FACE EACH OTHER BACKWARDS
mk3 1111 SMURF MODE (Characters Small and fight in mid-air)
mk3 8888 WIDE MODE (Characters Wide)

Keep in mind that you can enter more than one of these 4 kodes at once.
For example: typing mk3 8000 9966 will set you in turbo mode AND also
enable the backwards gameplay. Also, try using combinations of kodes
that alter the character's body figures. It produces some REALLY strange
effects, one combination makes the players flat!:)

======================
NEW KODES!!
======================
mk3 831 CHARACTERS DARKENED (Noob Saibot Mode)
mk3 1000000 PLAY AS SHAOKAHN AND MOTARO (Two player game only)

SHAOKAHN MOVES
----------------------
Shoulder Slam (Straight) F, F, LP
Shoulder Slam (Upward) F, F, HP
Sledge Hammer B, F, HP
Taunt D, D, LK
Laugh D, D, HK
FireBall B, B, F, LP

MOTARO MOVES
---------------------
FireBall F, D, B, HP
Teleport D, U
Grab and Smack F, F, LP
Tail Whip B, LK

HEAVY DAMAGE (This one appears to work for both players - you will get
no on screen message indicating that this worked).
978-243 or Skull_Raiden_ShaoKahn_Yin Yang_?_3

TIMER DISABLED
972-297 or Skull_Raiden_Yin Yang_Yin Yang_Raiden_Skull

mk3 12345 Tall mode (players are taller)
mk3 54321 Short moed (similar to smurf mode but players fight on ground)

And that's all I know right now. If a kode isn't in here, then I don't
know it ... but I would like to:)

NOTE - This faq contains only moves, kodes, etc. that are specific for
the PC version. All of the arcade moves and kodes should work on PC.
If you need any arcade info (moves or whatever), you can go to
subzero's page at: http://www.atw.fullfeed.com/~subzero
You should find whatever you need to survive in kombat.

==============
GLITCHES
==============
1. Soul Chamber Loopback Bug
Have you ever found yourself playing the same three backgrounds over
and over again? This is due to a bug on the Soul Chamber stage (the
stage with the open mouth and the green mist rotating inside of it).
Apparently, when you uppercut somebody on this staage.
2. Cyrax with no bombs with 4-button Gravis Pad.
Players have not been able to get Cyrax's bombs to work with these
pads. This is because when you hold both lk+hk together, the computer
treats it as a run. There is no known way to fix this. You will
just have to use your keyboard.

You can email me with questions, comments, info, or whatever you so
desire. I would like to stress that I am only dealing with the PC
version for this page but you can also write with anything about the
SNES/Genesis version, as I am working on a page for them as well.
However, I am not interested in any PSX or arcade information.
Subzero is handling those letters. If you would like to write about
anything concerning either the PSX or arcade, mail Subzero. His
