README for Diamond Viper, SpeedStar, and Stealth Drivers

*************************************************************************

The Diamond drivers in this directory are provided "as is" by Diamond
Multimedia Systems, Inc. They have received limited compatibility
testing by Microsoft with the June beta build of Windows 95, and are NOT
supported by Microsoft.

                DIAMOND SPEEDSTAR and STEALTH DRIVERS

The Speedstar and Stealth drivers are helper VxDs that can be loaded in
conjunction with Windows 95's built-in S3 and Cirrus Logic driver/
minivdds to set refresh rates based on the monitor type selected in
Windows 95. These are needed to eliminate the flickering screen problem
often found when using the built-in drivers. Also, the Stealth 64 is
particularly bad when using its 1024x768 resolution, since it runs in
interlaced mode without its helper VxD. Using the helper VxD provided
here will fix the problem.

The INF files in this directory will copy the driver, minivdd, and
helper VxD files to your hard drive. The INFs are needed to put a
"RefreshRate=-1" entry into the registry, which tells the minivdd to
pass monitor timing data to the mini/helper VxD to set the refresh rate.

For information about installing Windows 95 display drivers, please read
the install.txt file in this directory.

                       DIAMOND VIPER DRIVERS

The Viper drivers in this directory are a full set of display drivers
for use with Windows 95.

Noted problems include minor screen corruption while switching DOS
graphical applications between full screen and windowed modes, and
poor performance of DOS applications in full screen modes.

Please read the Viper.txt file for information from Diamond Multimedia
Systems regarding installation and compatibility of these drivers.
