This course is dedicated to the memory of
                          * JOHN SHERIDAN *

I'm not going into great detail about my design technique on this course.
That's not what this is about. It's a fictional course set in the fall in
Dandridge, Tn. This is where John and Rose Sheridan were planning on
settling down after Rose retired. I tried to make it challenging though
that's getting tough to do without getting absurd at the level of skill,
you, the player's have reached. I refuse to get absurd so score well and
enjoy. For those that haven't reached shark status the quotes should help
you score well. Dandridge is designed to be played from all the tees and
the centerlines were set from the Championship tees so make the necessary
adjustments from the shorter starting points. The clubhouse is an exact
replica of the Old Grist Mill at Pigeon Forge, Tn.
I borrowed an orange leaf tree which I show off throughout the course from
Gene Rodriguez III fine renditon of Crooked Stick. Crooked Stick, like all
  of GR's course's , is outstanding.
I want to offer a very Special thanks to Russ Beckner and David Laing. I
mentioned to Russ that I was working on a Memorial Course for John and he
immediately approached Dave, whose course is running in February, and asked
if he would mind having a tournament for John with Dandridge. His reply was
absolutely not and if there is anything I can do to help, let me know. We
do have some class on the Ham Hoc Tour! Thanks to both of these gentlemen.
When John passed away they mentioned donating to the Local Chapter of The
Heart Association and that's fitting but we had just run a Charity Event
for the Cancer Society at Christmas and besides what would this do for
John? I mean this was personal, John was one of us. I first met John about
three years ago when I designed a now forgotten course called Mahoosuc
Ridge. John wrote and told me he had just recently retired and how much he
appreciated the variety of course's that us designer's put out.He went on
to tell me how much he enjoyed computer golfing and getting to spend more
time with his family and friends. He really enjoyed his retirement and was
looking forward to his wife, Rose, retiring. We talked on occasion over the
next couple years mostly about computer golf and family. My favorite note
from John came this last December. I had designed a Christmas Course and
he wrote and told me it was beautiful. He said it was like a big Christmas
Card and that when he played it, Rose would sit behind him and watch so
they could both enjoy it. I told him that even if the Charity Tournament
was a flop and everybody hated the course it wouldn't matter now because
of his wonderful remarks. That was John, in this computer age with modem
to modem conversations and fiber optic friendships he could reach out and
touch you. I called this the Annual John Sheridan Memorial Tournament and
thanks to Russ and Dave I know we'll play it this year but with the demise
of the PNGT our ability to stick together is questionable. All of us that
knew him will have this course and when we play it or at the very least
when we go through and look at our course's we'll see Dandridge and think
of John. This was my intent and I sincerely think John would have liked it
too.All of us who had the distinct pleasure of knowing this gentleman
should smile and count our blessings.Rest in Peace my Friend!
                                                           Steve Holden
This is my last course design. To all that have supported me over the
years, Thank You! Remember, swing easy and keep your head down!
