I went again last night to see if MKIII was running and sure enough it
was up. I remember the first time I saw MK I, I died it was so good. When
I first saw MKII, my jaw dropped to the floor. And now, MKIII? I feel 
violated and almost insulted at how this could be called MKIII! I swear
it's as if I was looking at Tattoo Assassins II! 

General impression: totally unoriginal, the martial arts magic and
mystery that made MK I and II what they are today are gone. Characters
are totally lame! Backrounds totally suck and lack any sort of creativity
whatsoever. The characters just didn't fit with the backrounds.They 
fight in the subway, on the rooftop, in a church with candles, in a cave,
in the streets. I thought I was looking at Streets of Rage III! Lame!
I was so stunned at how bad it was, and I wasn't alone. Other MK fans
felt the same way. How dare they call this MK.

Characters: All have absolutely no class or style whatsoever. Their moves
are horrible, special attacks are not really special. Animation resembles
Way of the Warrior, Tattoo Assassins. They are about 25% smaller than
in MKII. They all run like sissies after pressing the "RUN" button. Their
jump kick attacks look horrible. It is obvious that these actors are
models and not martial arts enthusiasts. No class or style.The cop is
there! He looks like a hockey player, wears a baseball cap backwards, and
tosses grenades! Oh and his 2 player VS. picture? He's got a gut! And he
tosses other opppenents with a billyclub! Lame! Sub-Zero? How could they.
Sub-Zero resembles Nitro from American Gladiators in looks and costume!
He reaches up to the sky and seems to pray for snow which falls down on
an oppenent rather than at him, the easiest thing to sidestep. He leaves
frozen images of himself on the battlefield which if you touch you get
frozen. Ridiculous. Do you remember how cool Sub-Zero's roundhouse kick
looked in MKII? This guy could barely get his leg over his head! This guy
should be in WWF not in MK. Oh and his throws? It's as if he is tossing a
sack of potatoes to his side. Liu Kang? A total weasel. He looks totally
constipated when he's doing the bicycle kick. His fireballs look bad, and
when he is beaten he stands up straight and falls back straight. What is
this suppose to be funny? I wasn't amused. He is ruined. 2 Roboninjas
looked like colored Stormtroopers from Star Wars. They have mechanical 
arms that come
out of their torso and toss you, they shoot what looks like a skyrocket
which zig-zags toward you, punches and kicks look like crap. Demon woman
who looks like she came right out of SNES Super Punchout has this long
white hair which grabs you and throws you. Wow. Hurray. One of Goro's 7 wives,
the feminine Goro look alike, is alright but I don't see any reason why
she should be included. She's got a fireball just like Goro, and has 
other lame moves. Shang Tsung? Horrible! He looks like a member of KISS
with long black hair and painted eyes, pumped up on steroids. He shoots
these fireballs now, not even close to looking like flaming skulls. No
beanie, no nothing. This guy looks like he should be taming lions and 
tiggers at a circus. Jax with the bionic makeover, big deal! I didn't see
him do anything special. Indian is there too, he is also an archer! Oh 
how lovely! Are we hunting for big game or fighting for our life here?
Lame again. There's a guy who looks like a bug-eyed robot. Sonya looks
like she's about to cry throughout the match, and tosses rings too.
Kung Lao is the same except now he underhand tosses his hat at you.
This is all I remember now for characters. There is not one character I
would choose to play! Back to MK I & II for me baby! No Mileena, no Kitana
nobody we can really connect with. 

Backrounds: a cemetary with tombstones that say Boon and Tobias RIP looked 
too cartoonish like something out of Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin, a 
church with candles and MK symbol in stained glass, a rooftop, a street,
a subway with grafitti, a cave. It seemed the backrounds were off at a
distance not up close and claustraphobic like MKII. They also didn't
parallax scroll too well. Again, no martial arts, no class, no style.
The feeling is gone. I kept asking myself why fight here? No theme, no
connection. The backrounds are unoriginal. Do you remember the first
time you saw the Living Forest? or Shao Kahn's Arena? How about Pit I and
II? The Pit III is dwarfed in comparison to either. Not one screen
impressed me that way. Even MKI blows these backrounds away in terms of
style, class, graphics, relevance, etc.

Gameplay: Fast but not as slick as MKII, actually, even MKI. The feeling
I got after uppercutting my oppenent out of anything isn't there. Sweeping
in general didn't look as good as prior MKs. Same with punching and
kicking. The feeling is bad. Characters are in contorted positions
when jumping in the air to kick or punch. It just looked weird. Even the
fight sign which comes out before the match looked lame. It swirls on and
off the screen and has this computer futuristic look to it, not scrawled
in blood like MKII and I. Hmmmm.

Conclusion: I thought I'd never say this but I think I'll have my first
game of Killer Instinct. It blows this crap out of the water in terms
of graphics, backrounds, characters, everything. Suddenly 80 hit combos
don't seem as ridiculous anymore. Wasn't KI and Crusin' USA suppose to be
only a preview as to what MKIII was going to be like? What a disappointment.
MKI and II will always rule. Jaguar, Playstation, etc can have MKIII. Too
little too late sorry! I've got MK and MKII for the PC and I guess that's
enough for me. Don't mean to bring anyone down, I'm just telling it like
it is. Do not release this game. It needs real martial artists, real
characters, real backrounds, a real story. Nothing connects. MK I & II
connected. There is a huge difference.

IT S*U*C*K*S. Yes, psychos and assholes and all you morons who's been
waiting (including moi) for MK III, the game is a definite downer. There
is no longer that oriental mystique or cool characters. I wanted to weep
when I saw the robo-ninja's chest open up and a small penis-esque
(John's?) heat seeking missile came out.

 Liu Kang looks like a sissy and yes, he does look like he is constipating
as he performs bike-kik. He does not move like the original Liu Kang. And
he's also uglier than old Liu Kang. 

Sonya looks like she doesn't want to be in the game and Sub-Zero without
the mask looks little to wimpy.

Where is Kitana and Mileena. The female characters look so ugly and
unappealing. 

Jax looks cool, though. And Shao Khan's queen looks stupid but she has
some cool moves, especially her hair whipping move.

Background totally blows, although from purely graphics point of view,
little John and Big John did a superb job. Lots and lots of 3D rendering
and ok animating things in the background. It looks crystal clear and very
sharp, BUT backgrounds all lack that umph; no meaning, no character, etc.
Subway scene sucks.

 Combos are OK, but that's my point of view. The other guys at the arcade
didn't like it too much ("If I wanna play KI, I'll play KI. What's this
combo shit!" were some general comments)

Overall, graphics get 10+, characters get -10, originality gets 5. I was
very disappointed. They really should have used real martial artists
rather than their friends and models. They should have stuck with that
oriental theme also. But all good things must come to an end. Meanwhile I
still have MK II and MK II I think is still the best fighting game in the
outworld.

MK III is at Diversions in Chicago at Lincoln Village Mall. The machine is
right there as you walk in. Overall consensus at the arcade is that MK III
is alright but not that good. Well, this is only a beta version. That's my
only hope.

Goro's wife wears really skimpy bathing suit and she has 4 arms. Only cool
thing about her is her ending move.

Anyways, I am blabbering, but I just feel totally dazed at how
disappointing this game is. Ugh, what idiocy.  There will not be MK IV.
Yes, that is my prediction and not a hard one at that after seeing MK III.

		        Subzero: freeze: fireball motion HP
			Ice Clone: down to back LP

			Kano: Cannonball: hold LK.. let go

on the side of the arcade is shoa kahn and sinder..the girl with the
white hair.. and white eyes..she can yell and kitana like waves
come out of her mouth and she pulls the victim towards her
the new mk symbol is a 3 with a MK dragon in the bottom half of the 3
on the battle versus screen there are five icons on the bottom that are randoml
y shown... like raiden, shadows of goro-like char, and mk dragons
when sumone is uppercutted.. sumtimes they will break thru the ceiling
and fight on a higher level.. the reason i know sum moves is because i watch ppl's
hands a..while they played.. there weren't that many ppl playing
but there were lots watching... there's a combo meter... the run button
and i've seen 5 hit combos... liu kang has lkong har..hair..in the charcater
select screen there's a secret character in the middle.. but the
block that he/she is is rotates.. shangtsung looks totally different
..sub-zero has a scar..um.. jax shoots fireballs....

well.. i only played MK III once today, but i watched others
play for a while...
	from what i could see... these are sum special moves...

	shang tsung: f f b LK ... Fireballs coming up from the ground
		     b b b LP ... Regular fireballs

	stryker: F,D,B HP ... grenade toss
		 F,F HK ... Billy Club Throw Slide

	nightwolf: D,F HP ... Axe Uppercut
		   D,B LP ... Arrow

        Sindel: D,F LK ... Fireball in the air
		F,F,F HP ... Yell <holds victim in air>
	        B,B,B HK ... Flight

	Cyrax: B,B,B LK ... Shoots Net that Holds victim
		
	Kano: D,B HP ... Knife throw
	      D,F HP ... Knife Uppercut

	Sonya: D,F LP ... Rings
	       B,B,B LK ... Forward/UP Bicycle Kick

	...
		
	cyrax can also blow up and come together near opponent.. like a
	teleport

	kabal can run really fast by opponent.. leaving the victim
	spinning around helplessly
	kabal also has a fire ball

	.. well.. remember these are moves that i recall from
	observing other ppl's hands.. so sum of the D,F may actually
	be B,D,F.. sorry.. but I just don't have the funds to try
	out everything for myself...

	sorry you guyz have so many questions.. and i have only
	a couple of answers...

	BTW, if anyone reading this post.. if you were at DIVERSIONS
	today <sunday> between 5:00-5:30pm.. didja happen to notice
	who was standing behind the crowd of guys in front of MK 3?
	Ho Sung Pak was there.. but only a couple of ppl noticed..
	others were too busy watching MK3.. o well.. he didn't stay long..
	he just walked around checking out all the fighting games..

	you won't be hearing much from me anymore.. cuz i'm back at
	school now...
