                  Supplemental Information for
                OpenMind 32 Client Version 2.0

This file contains last minute information for users of the OpenMind 32 Client,
Version 2.0. Where applicable, the information contained in this file
supersedes any information contained in the User's Guide.

The OpenMind 32 bit Client is intended for use on Windows NT 3.5 or greater and
Win95 operating systems only. The OpenMind 16 bit Client should only be used on
Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups operating systems.

If you would like to connect to the Attachmate Customer Mind, you can receive
a UserID and password by calling (800) 288-5232. Connection information is
provided when you receive your UserID and password.

A. What's Changed from the 16 bit Client

 1. UI Enhancements:
      a. Section tiles All section tiles are automatically displayed in
         alphabetical order.

      b. Title bar
When multiple sessions are open, the title bar now displays
information that identifies the active session window. If multiple
sessions are opened and a request is made to close a session, a
notification appears, specifying the user and connection information
         for that session.

      c. Item Selection
When in the transcript view, the right mouse button provides actions
for an item (shown with a blue highlight) without moving the focus of
         your previous highlight.

   2. Undocumented Features:
      a. Setup
This optional feature may assist Administrators to track the number
of clients installed. You can create a blank file named USERS.TXT
in the same directory where the SETUP.EXE is located. Each client
that is installed generates an entry that is appended to this file
on the network. Each client must have write permissions to the
network server where the network client was installed using setup /n.

      b. Naming Conventions
OpenMind 32 Client now supports Long File Names and the Universal
Naming Convention. You can enter file names up to 257 characters,
including the path. (Spaces in the file name are not recommended.)
You can also find or save files by specifying the network name, the
network does not need to be mapped to a drive letter.

      c. OpenMind URL's
Hypertext documents within OpenMind can contain OpenMind URL's, which
can be used to specify the addresses of sections or files within the
Mind itself. By combining this feature with the hypertext feature, you
can create hypertext "navigation" pages, permitting the creation of
custom access views of the Mind. OpenMind automatically generates the
necessary URL for you when you use the "Copy URL" command on the right
mouse button menu for a section.

      d. OpenMind Program Group Icons
In addition to the standard OpenMind icon an additional icon has
been provided that differentiates between 16 and 32 bit versions. This
new icon includes the number 32 in the lower right corner of the icon.
The icon is contained in the file OM32.ICO and can be selected using
         the Program Manager Properties feature.

      e. Using 16 bit and 32 bit Clients
If you already have the OpenMind 16 bit Client installed, you can
install the 32 bit Client into the same subdirectory and still use
either application. If you no longer choose to use the 16 bit Client
then remove your existing subdirectory before you install the 32 bit
Client or install the 32 bit Client into a different subdirectory. We
recommend you use the OpenMind 32 bit Client for Windows NT and Win95 and
use the 16 bit client for Windows 3.1 or versions of NT prior to v3.5.

   3. Know problems and limitations:
      a. IPX/SPX Connections
When using the IPX/SPX transport on a PC with low conventional
memory problems may occur when exiting OpenMind. This occurs
particularly on IBM ThinkPads because the modem card uses a memory
consuming DOS driver. This problem typically causes either an EMM386
exception error or the display to go blank. The best remedy for this
situation is to either use a different transport, if possible, or
reduce the conventional memory drivers in use.

      b. Viewer's Do Not Display All Features
The viewers provided with OpenMind are intended to provide viewing of
most files and their formats. While most of the significant
capabilities of the original application are available, some features
may not be supported. Some Word for Windows 6.0 documents, for example,
are formatted with snaked columns and may not display properly when
viewed. If you do not have the original application that created this
document, many vendors provide free, fully compatible viewers for their
documents. WordView, from Microsoft is an excellent example. This can
be obtained by checking out Microsoft's Internet FTP site at
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com. Wordview can then be associated, using File
Manger, with this application and launched from OpenMind.

      c. CTL3D32 and Win95
When viewing a file on a Win95 PC the following message may be
displayed: "This application uses CTL3D32.dll which is not the current
version. The version of CTL3D32.dll is designed only for Windows NT
systems." However, the file CTL3D32.DLL is not needed by OpenMind
when using a Win95 PC, and the selected file displays correctly. If
CTL3D32.DLL is installed on your Win95 PC, please verify that it is a
         version specifically for Win95.

      d. CTL3D32 and Windows NT
On a Windows NT installation, if you are currently running a program which
uses CTL3D32.DLL an error may display indicating that this file is
already in use. Under most circumstances this does not affect the
installation process. If you notice any visual problems, shut down all
         applications and reinstall OpenMind.

      e. Long File Names
Very long file names, including paths, may not display in full in some
dialog boxes when on a standard display system. To locate the OK
button you may need to shift the dialog box by clicking on the title
bar and moving the mouse until visible.

      f. Timeouts while connecting over async (dial-up)
You may occasionally experience timeout errors while attempting to
connect to an OpenMind server using the async transport, particularly
when dialing long distance using credit card dialing. The timeout
error is normally caused by the client taking longer than 50 seconds
(the default for most modems) to dial and connect with the server's
modem. You can configure the async transport to wait a longer time
before timing out by adding information to your OPENMIND.INI file. For
example, to configure OpenMind and your modem to wait up to two
minutes for a connection, add the following lines to your
         OPENMIND.INI file:

          [Async]
; Time to wait in milliseconds
          CallTimemout=120000
          ; "Extra" modem initialization
; S7 sets the modem's carrier detect timeout (in seconds)
; The vertical bar at the end of the string inserts a carriage return
          ModemInitStr=ATS7=120|

Note: You must give the modem specific commands in the ModemInitStr
so you can program your modem to wait for the desired period
of time. Consult your modem user's guide for more information.

      g. Print Setup
Due to a bug in some beta versions of Windows NT 3.51, the Print Setup
menu item may not be operational when using this version of NT. This
problem does not exist in the released version of Windows NT 3.51. We
recommend that you use the released version of Windows NT when possible.
If you are using a beta version of Windows NT, you can access the Print
Setup dialog box from the Print dialog box. The production version of
Windows NT 3.51 resolves this issue.

      h. Multiple transports and Windows NT 3.5
Due to a problem in Windows NT 3.5 and 3.51, using an IPX connection
to the OpenMind server, while also using a local TCP/IP stack may cause
FTP file transfer failures within NT. This can be avoided in one of
two ways: -Use TCP/IP, or any other non IPX protocol, to connect to the
OpenMind server. -Use TCP/IP tunneling instead of a local stack.

      I. Banyan Vines Transport and Win95
OpenMind Banyan Vines Transport was not supported under Win95 at the
         time of this release.

B. Addendum
      1. User Name Entry
When adding or modifying user names, you can enter in either FIRST
MIDDLE LAST or LAST, FIRST M. If a user has more than one name for
either FIRST, LAST or MIDDLE, you must enter the name in the format
LAST, FIRST, MIDDLE (note the comma usage). This format lets the
Client know where the double name entry belongs.

      2. Viewers
If this version of OpenMind was bundled with another Attachmate
product, you will have all of the features of the retail product
except for some of the Viewers. The bundled version contains the
following subset of the retail version:
