             OSI Gateway - PC Version for DOS & WIndows
                Software Configuration for use with
         The Microsoft Mail to AT&T Mail Gateway Release 2.0

This text file describes how to configure your EICON OSI Gateway
for DOS & Windows for use by the Microsoft Mail Mail to AT&T
Mail Gateway Release 2.0. Included within this file are actual
screen shots from EICON's DOS OSI Gateway.

Also included within this text file are sample Config.sys
and Autoexec.bat files.

Your EICON HSI card is assumed to be installed with factory
default settings. If address conflicts are present, make the
necessary jumper changes to your EICON card and reconfigure the
EICON software to match any changes made.

Configuring The EICON OSI Gateway
---------------------------------
Change to the directory where the EICON OSI Gateway was installed
(default C:\OSIGATE) and run the ECCFG program at the DOS prompt.

The following screen will appear. Configure your software
as depicted below.

Optimizing Autoexec.bat and Config.sys
--------------------------------------
The machine which will run the Microsoft Mail to AT&T Mail Gateway Release
2.0 must have the autoexec.bat and config.sys files optimized in order for
the gateway to function correctly. The EICON OSI Gateway TSR requires
over 50K of memory. The gateway requires 480K of memory to run.
All device drivers must be loaded in HIGH memory in order for the gateway
to have enough memory to run properly.

Note: Microsoft Drivespace or Doublespace can NOT be used on the gateway
machine. These device drivers require over 50K a piece making it impossible
for the gateway to run.

Example Autoexec.bat.
---------------------

@ECHO OFF
PROMPT $p$g
PATH C:\DOS;C:\WINDOWS
SET TEMP=C:\DOS
REM EICON statements begin
C:
CD C:\OSIGATE
LH ECBIOS START
LH ECCARD START
SET ECXPAD=C:\OSIGATE
LH ECXPAD START /N=3
REM EICON statements end
cd\
LH ipx
LH netx

In the above example the LH ECXPAD START line has been edited to also
contain /N=3. This designates a logical Comm port for the Eicon Card
to use. The example is shown using the number 3 which designates Comm
port 3 because Comms 1 and 2 usually exist on normal IBM compatible
machines. Selecting a comm port which already exists on your machine
will create conflict. It is recommended that logical comm 3 be used
if it does not exist.

Example Config.sys
------------------

DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
BUFFERS=40,0
files=30
DOS=UMB
LASTDRIVE=H
FCBS=16,0
DOS=HIGH
DEVICEHIGH =C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE

The two example files above are contained in the EICON\BOOT directory.

Configuring the Microsoft Mail to AT&T Mail Gateway Release 2.0
---------------------------------------------------------------
Copy the EICON.MOD and EICON.ANS scripts to the scripts directory
of the gateway. These scripts are contained within the EICON\SCRIPTS
directory.

Run the gateway ADMIN.EXE program and reconfigure the gateway to:
1) Use the EICON modem scripts through the TRANSPORT setup screen.
2) Select the EICON COMM PORT through the TRANSPORT setup screen.
3) Enter the X.25 DIAL IN phone number.

Note: Once the scripts are copied to the C:\ATTGATE\SCRIPTS directory
the modem script option in the TRANSPORT SETUP screen of gateway ADMIN
will contain the option for the EICON modem scripts. The available
COMM ports will also contain the EICON COMM PORT parameter for use
with the EICON modem scripts.

When done configuring the gateway as stated above:
1) Exit the gateway ADMIN.EXE program.
2) While in the ATTGATE subdirectory edit the SYSTEMS file using a
   text editor, and change the word EICON to EICON3 in both lines of
   the SYSTEMS file. The EICON3 designates the logical EICON COMM
   Port designation as configured in the PC's AUTOEXEC.BAT fiel.
   See example below.

Example:
thflash1 5000 thflash1
attmail *:*:* EICON3 EICON.OUT 9600 G(7,1024)
%login *:*:* EICON3 EICON.IN 9600 G(7,1024)
