Information Available from CI Labs
==================================
CI Labs has a server on the Internet to provide mailing lists and other
services for members and anyone interested in CI Labs activities.

CI Labs Lists
-------------
In particular, the CILABS-ANNOUNCE list carries announcements from
CI Labs. CILABS-INTEREST is a forum for interested parties to discuss
CI Labs issues. Other lists discuss specific CI Labs technologies,
requirements for additional technologies, or component software
  in general.

The following CI Labs lists are open to the public:

* CILABS-ANNOUNCE       READ-ONLY list with announcements regarding
                        Component Integration Laboratories (CI Labs).

* CILABS-INTEREST Open forum for non-technical discussion of
                        CI Labs plans and charter.

* OPENDOC-ANNOUNCE READ-ONLY list with announcements of broad
                        interest regarding OpenDoc.

* OPENDOC-INTEREST Open forum for discussion of OpenDoc, a
                        compound document architecture.

* BENTO-ANNOUNCE READ-ONLY list with announcements of broad
                        interest regarding Bento.

* BENTO-INTEREST Open forum for discussion of Bento, a
                        persistent object storage format.

How to Subscribe to a List
--------------------------
To subscribe to a list, send either of the following commands in first line
(NOT on the "Subject:" line!) of the body of an email to ListProc@CILABS.ORG
(via AppleLink the address is ListProc@CILABS.ORG@INTERNET#):

    subscribe <PUT-LIST-NAME-HERE> <Your full name>
  or
    join <PUT-LIST-NAME-HERE> <Your full name>

For example: subscribe CILABS-INTEREST Jane Doe
                 join CILABS-INTEREST Jane Doe

ListProc only requires your name, and will take your email address from
the header information. After ListProc@CILABS.ORG processes your request,
you will receive a "Welcome" message that will give you more information
on the list, information on other resources that might be available to
you, and a password for use with a live session. (See: How to Access
  ListProc Live)

The line following the your request may need to say "end" to prevent
confusion if your mailer adds a signature to your message.

Unsubscribing
-------------
If you don't feel that you should be on this list, or later want to remove
yourself from a list, send the following command in first line (NOT on
the "Subject:" line!) of the body of an email to ListProc@CILABS.ORG (via
  AppleLink the address is ListProc@CILABS.ORG@INTERNET#):

    which PARTIAL-EMAIL-ADDRESS

    For example: which

ListProc@CILABS.ORG will return to an email with a list of all of the
lists you are currently subscribed to. Then send either of the following
commands in first line of the body of an email to ListProc@CILABS.ORG
(via AppleLink the address is ListProc@CILABS.ORG@INTERNET#) for each
  list you wish to unsubscribe:

    unsubscribe PUT-LIST-NAME-HERE
  or
    signoff PUT-LIST-NAME-HERE

    For example: unsubscribe CILABS-INTEREST

The line following the your request may need to say "end" to prevent
confusion if your mailer adds a signature to your message.

If you are sending your unsubscribe request from the same account that
you subscribed with, you will receive an acknowledgement from
ListProc@CILABS.ORG that you have been unsubscribed. If you unsubscribe
from a different account, the list administrators will recieve an
unsubscribe approval request that might take a day or so to process.

If you have trouble unsubscribing, you can send the command HELP to
ListProc@CILABS.ORG, or send mail to CILABS@CILABS.ORG and we will
be glad to manually unsubscribe you from any lists that you do not
  wish to belong to.

How To Access ListProc Live
---------------------------
In addition to being able to subscribe, unsubscribe and set list options
through mail, ListProc allows subscribers to connect and modify their list
  options.

In onder to connect you will require an ILP (Interactive ListProcessor)
client. As clients are developed, we will make them available on the
CILABS.ORG server. Announcements of new client releases will be sent to
  the CILABS-ANNOUNCE mailing list.

If you have an ILP client, simply type:

  ilp cilabs.org

You will be asked to provide an email address and the password sent to you
upon initial subscription to CI Labs lists. Once connected as a Subscriber,
you will be able to set preferences for how you wish to receive your mail,
get list statistics, and of course subscribe and unsubscribe yourself from
  lists.

CI Labs Files
-------------
CI Labs also maintains a number of files on FTP.CILABS.ORG, including
information on OpenDoc, Bento specifications, and other information on
  CI Labs.

These files are available via anonymous FTP at FTP.CILABS.ORG, via
Mosaic or World-Wide-Web at URL="ftp://ftp.cilabs.org/pub/", or via
  FTPMail.

To request information on how to use FTPMail, send a message to
FTPMAIL@CILABS.ORG with the single word HELP in the body of the message
(again, commands in the "Subject:" line are NOT processed).
