                                 Captain Bloods Lamer Release Report

Revised 8/22/95

Due to time constraints, I have merged the two reports into one..

Due to the overwhelming amount of warez being available on the NET, the
Scene is being overrun by a lot of totally lame warez. Due to the competitive
nature, rather then testing these warez, they are just being repackaged and sent
out.

And, because so much is available, certain lamers are releasing totally shit
warez, knowing full well that Sysops and Traders alike are just too busy to
verify that these releases are valid. In fact, I have found the fastest boards to be
able to do no more that check for dupes or old dates.

The loser of this is the Sysops of the smaller boards, who receive less then 10 %
of what is released, and half of what they get is either bogus or not installable.

As I am a mid-frame programmer and an aspiring Graphics Artist, I usually try
to pick up any warez relevant to my trade, and install them. I am also an avid
game player.

Over the past 2 months or so, I have found that 50 % of the warez I trade are
total shit.

Therefore, to assist Sysops and Traders alike, I feel the need for a Lamer Release
Report. This report will list all warez that I or close friends have personally tried
to install and found that they are Fakes, Total Shit or Un-installable. The Release
file will contain one report. LAMER.RPT will contain the following:

Group Release Name Packager Name Name of File # of Disks Appox size
of release Date of Release Reason for Lamer Status

In addition, it will include a tally by Group name a tally of how many
Dupes/Shit/Un-installables have occurred since the inception of this report.

Although I belong to several fine groups, I would like to be perfectly clear, that
no favoritism is going to be expressed in the report. I am simply going to list
whatever warez is bad, and if some member of the group takes exception that is
his/her own personal problem. There will also be no weird political statements
made about any of the groups. I have had the misfortune to read some regularly
released totally unbiased reports of release that contain direct personal attacks
against rival groups and members. The purpose of this report is not to attack
Scene people, but to hopefully prevent Groups/Lamers from releasing crap just
to get file credits somewhere, or to get their ego stoked my having some Chinese
dude see their name when he cant even read English..:) If seeing their name in
this report gets them off, then oh well.

One final note on the installation of the warez. I will follow any and all
instructions given in the release. If none are given, I will do whatever I can to get
it to install, but if the problem is the lack of Volume labels being included or
missing files that are not easily identifiable, the release will be listed as a lamer
release. After all, I am well versed in installing warez, but Releasers should not
automatically believe everyone is, so make sure your release is insatiable (take a
few minutes to install it using your release disks and following your
instructions) else expect it to be listed here.
