 `-----+ PHOENIX VERSION 2.23 NEWS <BY VASSAGO> +--------------------------'

                    +--------------+ /|\ +--------------+

                         + Current Version Updates
                         (and Bugfixes) Information +

                    +--------------+ \|/ +--------------+

Eeeew. Bugs. I hate them. (some more than others. But, I digress...)
Somehow PhoEniX 2.21 got released with zillionz of little bugs
floating around in it. Bleah. Well, those have all been fixed, to my
knowledge. I tried not to add anything REALLY new to this version,
just to fix the bugs (so as to not create more bugs :)

Fixed Bugs from v2.21: FLOODOK list should now work properly. UNBAN
and CDBAN will now work properly. This wasn't a bug of mine, but
some sort of weird client or server bug that wouldn't let wait -CMD
be used in that situation. I didn't know this :> But it has since
been fixed. Just be careful about doing multiple unbans before the
last one has cleared the server, or you could get a recursive wait
error. There were a few other bugs fixed, which I don't remember at
the moment, but I'm sure they were important.

You can now add more than one person at a time to your FLOOD OK list.
The command to add someone has been changed from /FLOODOK to /FOK,
and the command to remove someone has been changed from /REMFLOOD
to /FREM. Please make a note of these changes.

You will be able to view what people say when they trigger a possible
public flood. PhoEniX will try to strip all harmful characters from
whatever it was they dumped to the screen. If this doesn't work,
    remember the /ig <nick> command.

And, in case you've noticed PhoEniX saying something like:
    "[E/X] Sending #/etc/passwd to LameGuy [lame@old.bad.joke.com]"
take note that PhoEniX is NOT backdoored, and is not sending
your /etc/passwd file to whoever is bored enough to mess with you.
It's just a small problem in the script that didn't detect if they
used numbers or characters. That has been fixed. Anyone trying
this little trick, or anything like it, will now get a notice:
There is no such file, like they should have gotten from the
beginning. Repeat: NOTHING happens when you get these messages.
It's just an irritating bug, but nothing that could endager
you or your passwd file :>

I removed the /XDCC NOISE command from PhoEniX, as I don't think
    anyone has been using it.

I bound CONTROL-P (^P) so that it will toggle the pause mode.
I've had some complaints about taking the /PAUSE command out of
PhoEniX, so I readded it in this fashion. Should be more effective.
If you are used to using ^P to scroll through the command history,
try the arrow keys instead :> Or else bind it to something else :>

I moved the OPVIEW command (/OV) to EXTRAS.IRC, because after
thinking about it, I don't believe it's necessary for the basic
script. I also moved /SHELL to EXTRAS.IRC for the same reason.

Readded the /N <notify> command. Somehow I forgot to take it
out of the help, but apparently people use it, so I put it
    back in.

The /XDCC SEND command will allow command line characters now.
For instance, you can type /XDCC SEND <file> <nicknames> instead
of waiting on the prompts, etc.

For online help and information on PhoEniX, and other of Vassago's
scripts, try joining channel #MoonGate on IRC. Usually there will
be someone online who can help you with whatever problem you have.
If not, stick around, and someone will appear shortly. :>

                   +--------------+ \|/ +--------------+

I've been releasing versions of PhoEniX, GargOyle and DJiNN for about
two and a half years now. If you like the script, or any of my scripts,
and would like to show your gratitude, please send $10 cash, check or
money order (US funds please) to:

Ryan Addams, P.O. Box 720916, Oklahoma City, OK, 73172, U.S.A.

Include your email address and you will be registered, as well as
receiving updated copies of PhoEniX as they are released. In return you
    will receive:

    1) A free copy of my booklet, "Vassago's Guide to IRC" (which is a
very cool guide for people new to the net as well as experienced users,
with tricks and information that anyone can use. It also has an expanded
help section detailing all the commands from PhoEniX, VeveS, and Scythe.)

    2) Prompt IRC technical support via email to rowan@unix.mclv.net -
I'll probably answer your mail even if you don't register, but my time
is valuable and it may take a little longer.

    3) The author's undying gratitude for helping him out. :> I'm trying
to get through school on out of state tuition, and it's costing me a
fortune :( So anything will help me immensely. If you want to send
MORE, then by all means, do so :>

A partial listing of Vassago's scripts for IRC:

ANTIKILL.IRC - Attempts to stop you from being the victim of a mass
collision kill, with a 50-75% success rate.
*DJINN.TAR.GZ - Vassago's DJiNN IRC Script, which is a pretty much
unique little script for people who are into DCCing
                    and fast script responses.
*GARGOYLE.IRC - The script that started it all, GargOyle, the
precursor to PhoEniX and DJiNN, and most of the
hacks and modified IRC scripts on the internet.
*PHOENIX.TAR.GZ - PhoEniX, the full featured, most widely used IRC
script all over the net. Everything you ever
wanted or will want in an IRC script.
    *MPHOENIX.TAR.GZ - A very old version of PhoEniX - about 2.01,
I believe - with a lot of the commands stripped
that most people don't use. If you don't like
the excess commands in PhoEniX, try this script
                       instead. (PhoEniX Master's Edition).
SCYTHE.IRC - Vassago's IRC warscript. Not for the IRC novice.
VEVES.IRC - Vassago's VEVES script, with unusual features like
                VeveBots and split finders.

   * (indicates a full IRC script package. All are available via FTP to
     jcowan.reslife.okstate.edu or unix.mclv.net in /pub/irc/phoenix.)

    Thanks for your support!
