SYSTEM REQUIREMENT NOTES

The calculations required to manipulate graphic images in 3D are
significant. Ray Dream Designer will run on any 486 or Pentium-based
PC with 8 MB of RAM or more, but performance may be sluggish when creating
complex files on a minimally configured PC.

Faster processor speeds, additional memory in your PC and a fast video
card will significantly increase Ray Dream Designer's performance.

Virtual Memory - You should make sure that Windows is configured for at
least 16MB of virtual memory. To do this:

     1. Open Control Panel in the Main Program Group
     2. Double click the 386 Enhanced icon.
     3. Click on the Virtual Memory button.
The Size should be at least 16,000 KB. If it is not, please refer
to your Microsoft Windows user's guide about increasing Virtual
     Memory.

INSTALLATION

If you experience installation problems and have virus protection installed,
please disable your virus protection and try re-installing Ray Dream
Designer. Don't forget to re-activate virus protection after installation.

COMPATIBILITY NOTES

1) The Windows version of Ray Dream Designer has been tested with the
most popular video adapter cards currently on the market. The proliferation
of video adapter cards with proprietary video drivers has made it difficult
to test all the video cards currently in use today. If you are
experiencing some video problems, please make sure that you are using the
most current video driver provided by the video adapter manufacturer. Most
video adapter card manufacturers have a BBS where you can down load
the latest video driver or the manufacturer will send you the updated
driver software upon request.

2) You cannot open CorelDRAW! 5.0 files in this version of Ray Dream
Designer. An easy work-around is to save your CorelDraw! 5.0 files in
CorelDraw! 4.0 format.

3) DXF file object entities that are generated from polylines with width
will not be imported properly into Ray Dream Designer.

The AutoCad Insert command is supported only with uniform scaling factors
(X, Y, and Z scaling factors should all be equal). However, symmetries
(negative scaling factors) are supported (even along 1 or 2 axis only).

When exporting, if the files are too large or complex, reduce the surface
fidelity of the objects in the Geometry menu of the modeler.

Designer automaticaly reduces a DXF file by a factor of four when it is
opened because DXF files tend to be large. When reopening DXF files that
were saved in Designer, you may notice that the size of the objects are
reduced by a factor of four. If you are reopening a Designer DXF file in
Designer, please set the scaling factor to 4.0 inches if you want the
objects to retain their size.

4) Using Ray Dream Designer Windows files in the Macintosh version of
Designer:

If you use the Text Modeler on Windows and set the font to a font that is
not available on the Macintosh (e.g. Arial), the font will be converted to
Courier when the file is opened on the Macintosh.

When reading Designer Windows files on the Macintosh, make sure that you
give it the file type RD3F on the Macintosh. This can be done by using
Resedit or by assigning the extension to the application in PC Exchange.

5) Choosing Your Interchange File Formats:

To Import 2D drawings from:	Use:

CorelDRAW! CorelDRAW! 3.0 or 4.0 format
Adobe Illustrator Adobe Illustrator 3.0 format
Aldus FreeHand Aldus FreeHand 3.1 format
Other software Preferred: Adobe Illustrator format
				Secondary: WMF and CGM

To Export final output to: Use:
CorelDRAW! TIF or BMP
Corel Photo-Paint TIF or BMP
Aldus PageMaker TIF
Quark Xpress TIF
Microsoft Word TIF
Micrografx Picture Publisher	TIF
Micrografx Designer TIF or BMP
Adobe Photoshop Adobe Photoshop

6) Designer files created on the Macintosh that contain text objects with
multiple styles will convert all characters to the style of the first
character in the text object.

7) If you encounter problems importing TIF files from Ray Dream Designer in
your application that accepts TIF, save it in Ray Dream Designer without
the LZW compression option.

8) Ray Dream Designer creates 24-bit BMP files. If you wish to use Designer
images for Windows Wallpaper, your Windows video driver should be set to
24-bit as well. If your video driver is limited to 256 colors, use a graphics
utility or image-editing program to convert your Designer images to 8-bit
(256 colors).
