NOTE ON SHARE.EXE
-----------------

In order for the WinWord 6.0, Excel 5.0 and Microsoft Works
for Windows 3.0 viewers to work, SHARE.EXE must be loaded
into memory. If you have installed any of these
applications on your machine, SHARE will already be running.
If you do not have these applications on your machine, you
will need to check to be sure that SHARE is loaded.

Normally, SHARE is loaded into memory by a line in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file. If you need to add SHARE, add the
following line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT [assuming C:\DOS as the
location of your DOS files]:

     C:\DOS\SHARE.EXE /L:500 /F:5100

The switches /L and /F set locking and storage parameters
for SHARE to the minimum values recommended by Microsoft
when SHARE is used with OLE2.

The line should follow the PATH statement but precede any
statement that starts Windows or otherwise prevents SHARE
from being executed. After adding the line, save the
revised AUTOEXEC.BAT file and reboot your machine so the
change will take effect.

If the Outside In Installation program detects that SHARE is
not loaded into memory, it will present a warning message at
the end of installation.

For more information on SHARE.EXE, see your DOS manual.

NEW FEATURES IN VERSION 2.10
--------------------------------------

INTEGRATION WITH LOTUS NOTES. Outside In now integrates
with Lotus Notes 3.x via a SmartIcon macro. This allows
users to view Notes file attachments using Outside In's
viewers. See the 2.1G Addendum for more specific infor-
mation on installation and use of this feature.

NEW VIEWER FORMATS. The following new viewer formats have
been added since version 2.00:

*   Computer Graphics Metafile [CGM]
* Corel Draw 4.0 and 5.0 .CDR files (bitmap header only)
*   DCX (multi-page PCX)
*   Excel 5.0
*   Excel Charts
*   JPEG
*   Lotus 1-2-3 5.0 for Windows
* Lotus 1-2-3 for Windows charts
*   Microsoft MultiPlan
* Microsoft PowerPoint 4.0 for Windows
*   Microsoft Windows NT Executables
* Microsoft Works 3.0 for Windows (all)
*   PKZIP 2.0
*   Q&A 3.0 Word Processor
*   QuattroPro 5.0 for DOS
*   TIFF 6
* WordPerfect 3.0 for the Macintosh
*   WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows

SETTING LAUNCH CONTEXTS
------------------------
You can control the contexts where Launch is active by
placing the following command in the [OI2] section of your
SCC.INI file (located in your Windows directory):

     LAUNCH={ALL|OIONLY|OFF}

Where:

"ALL" enables launching both in the main Outside In program
and in the AddOn interface (accessed through OI's E-Mail
integrations)

"OIONLY" enables launching in the main Outside In program,
but disables it in the AddOn interface.

"OFF" disables launching both in the main Outside In program
and in the AddOn interface.

When Launch is disabled for all viewers in a particular
context, the Launch icon will be grayed out.

NOTE: This parameter is overridden by the [LaunchOnly]
parameter (see below).

LAUNCH INSTEAD OF VIEW

If you prefer to use another application to view specific
file formats, Version 2.10 now allows you to launch that
application when a file would normally be viewed. This
feature is supported by Outside In's Microsoft Mail
Attachment Handler, Windows File Manager AddOn, and Outside
In itself. To enable this feature, you must edit the
SCC.INI created by the installation program and add a
section as shown below:

[LaunchOnly]
id=state
...

Where 'id' is a four digit number identifying an application
and 'state' is either ON (enable feature) or OFF (disable
feature). The id numbers for formats recognized by Outside
In are given below.

NOTE: The LaunchOnly settings override the value of the
"LAUNCH=" parameter discussed above.

DISABLING LAUNCH FOR PARTICULAR VIEWERS

To disable the Launch feature for a particular viewer or
group of viewers, create the following heading in your
SCC.INI file (located in your Windows directory):

     [DisableLaunch]

Beneath this heading, enter the command syntax:

     ID={YES|NO}

Where:

"ID" equals the Launch ID number for the particular format
you wish to disable. A list of these ID numbers appears at
the end of the README.

"YES" causes launching to be disabled for the specified
format.

"NO" causes launching to be enabled for the specified
format.

If there is a conflict between the LaunchOnly and
DisableLaunch settings, such that the same viewer is
simultaneously set to launch instead of view and disabled
for launching, Outside In will display an error message
explaining the conflict.

Launching
---------

Some applications do not run well under Windows; launching
these programs is not supported in Outside In:

     dBase III
     dBase IV
     Microsoft Excel (Ver 2.10 only)
     MultiMate 4
     MultiMate Advantage II
     Paradox
     Paradox 3.0
     R:Base 3.1
     Samna IV

Some applications do not support loading a file from the DOS
command line. Outside In will launch these programs, but is
not able to load documents for the following applications:

     DataEase 4.2
     DisplayWrite 2,3,4 & 5
     Enable
     First Choice
     Lotus 1-2-3
     Lotus Manuscript
     Lotus Symphony
     Mass-11
     Mosaic Twin
     MultiMate 3.6
     PC File 5.0
     Q&A
     Smartware II
     Volkswriter 3
     VP Planner 3D

The following applications will cause an inactive window to
appear when the application is exited. You should close
this inactive window before returning to Outside In.

     Professional Write 1
     MultiMate 3.6
     PFS:Professional Plan

If you have difficulty launching files created in
applications not found on the lists above, try
running the application independently of Outside In.
You must be able to run a program from Windows in order
to launch the program using Outside In.

To enable this feature for file types not recognized by Outside
In, add the following line to the [LaunchOnly] section of the
SCC.INI:

1999=ON

For network versions of Outside In, the network administrator
may create a SCC.INI in the Outside In network directory which
will be duplicated for each workstation during node installation.

WordPerfect for Windows Support
-------------------------------

Due to WordPerfect's protocols for translating Rich Text
Format, the original font size will not be retained
after pasting if WordPerfect for Windows has been set up
to use the WordPerfect print drivers.

Due to WordPerfect's protocols for translating Rich Text
Format, the import of typeface may select incorrect
fonts. You may wish to disable the import of character
face and set the default face to a value which works for
your environment. This is done within Outside In from
the Options/Clipboard dialog.

When viewing a file from the WordPerfect File Manager,
you may encounter a blank area of the view window when
the file is first viewed. Scrolling the view window
will redisplay the affected area. This is due to a
window update problem in the WordPerfect File Manager.
This problem may also occur when viewing attachments in
WordPerfect Mail.
