		Monitrix Update Revision C
			11/15/1994

This Monitrix update file updates your Monitrix software from
Rev A. to Rev. C. Update your Monitrix v3.0 software with this
file if you are currently using Monitrix v3.0 Rev A. To determine
which Monitrix NLM version you are currently using just type the
NetWare console command "Modules" on your Monitrix server console.
You should see text similar to the following:

		Monitrix.nlm
	       	  Monitrix Main Server
		  Version 3.00a

If you are using Monitrix Rev. B then download the file 'MN0019.ZIP'
from Cheyenne's bulletin service. This file will update your
Monitrix v3.0 software from Rev. B to Rev. C.

2. Bug Fixes

	a. Invent.dll fixes inventory problem associated with volume sizes
greater than .5 GB. Volume sizes are now reported in MegaByte
	   sizes.

	b. The primary nlms for 3.1x and 4.x servers did report the CPU
utilization correctly and has now been corrected.

	c. Previous Monitrix nlms for 3.1x and 4.x would cause
Primary and secondary servers to hang during inital
Monitrix startup when Auto-Detect SCSI was enabled.
This bug has now been fixed.

	d. New PCINFO.EXE fixes Lap Top pc hang upon execution.
This problem was known to occur with Xircom LAN adapters.
PCINFO.EXE video card memory and screen resolution are
	   now gathered more accurately.

	e. The volume reports that came with Monitrix v3.0
(VOL1.RPT, VOL2.RPT, VOL3.RPT) had to be modified to reflect
Megabytes instead of bytes and kilobytes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Enhancements

	a. Monitrix nlms have a new command line option. By default Monitrix
NLMs will perform a self-inventory scan and 2.x server scan when
first loaded. If you specify the 'N' parameter within the
MONSTART.NCF file you will turn off this initial scanning process.
The next scheduled self scan will take place 4 hours later on a
primary server and 2 hours later on a secondary server. The
purpose of this option is to allow the administrator to skip a
possible long inital scan and begin auto-exploring the network
	   immediately.

	   Example of 'N' parameter format:

	   SYS:SYSTEM\MONSTART.NCF file	contents:

	   	LOAD ALERT.NLM
	   	BSTART
	   	LOAD SYS:\MONITRIX\NLM\MONITRIX N

NOTE: The Monitrix console will display the following text
upon startup when the 'N' option is used:

			Soft Inventory is OFF

If the 'N" option is not used then the above statement
	   will NOT be displayed.

	b. PCINFO.EXE has two new paramaters '-A' and '-N'. The '-A'
option forces PCINFO.EXE to automatically login to the
server specified on the command line. The following example
forces PCINFO to send the workstation scan information to
the Monitrix server called MY_SERVER even if the workstation
  	   is not logged into MY_SERVER.

	   Ex. PCINFO MY_SERVER -A

The '-N' parameter forces PCINFO.EXE to skip the software
	   inventory portion of the self-scan.

  	   Ex. PCINFO MY_SERVER -N

	   Format: PCINFO <Server_name> -A -N -V

-A Forces login to serve name
-N Forces skip of software scan
	    -V Verbose Mode

note: The -A option applies to PRIMARY servers only and
does NOT apply to secondary servers.

	c. Monitrix activity enhancment - All Monitrix consoles now
show an activity arrow indicating self-inventory activity.
Previous Monitrix consoles have appeared to be "hung"
when the self-inventory process was active upon startup.
You should see the following new text within the Monitrix
	   console:

		<Starting Inventory Scan>
		>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

		<Ending Inventory Scan>

Note: This activity arrow appears only upon Monitrix startup.
Afterwards only the the starting and ending scan statments
		 above will be displayed.

4. Installation Procedure

Important: Please copy your old files to another location before
	      installing updated files.

	a. Copy INVENT.DLL from the \WINDOWS subdirectory to your Monitrix
	   Manager directory.

	b. Server nlms

	   3.1x Primary Monitrix servers only
	   -----------------------------------
Copy ALL files from the \nlm\3x directory to the
	   \<Monitrix Directory>\nlm subdirectory on your 3.1x server.

	   4.x Primary Monitrix servers only
	   -----------------------------------
Copy ALL files from the \nlm\4x directory to the
	   \<Monitrix Directory>\nlm directory on your 4.x server.

	   ALL Secondary servers
	   ---------------------
For all existing secondary servers execute the
'Install Secondary Server' option in the Server Configuration
menu within the Monitrix Manager. This option will overwrite
your old nlms with the new nlm set. The installation will
detect the NetWare version running on the secondary server and copy
the correct nlms for that NetWare version.

	c. PCINFO.EXE - Copy PCINFO.EXE from the \pcinfo directory
on this diskette to the \Monitrix directory
			on your Primary server.

			 ******	Important ******
Copy PCINFO.EXE to your Primary server first before running
the Install Secondary option. The Install Secondary option
copies PCINFO.EXE from the Primary server to the secondary
server as part of secondary server installation. otherwise
the old PCINFO.EXE will be copied instead.

	d. Volume reports

Copy the Vol1.rpt, Vol2.rpt and Vol3.rpt files to both the
	   \<Monitrix Directory>\emptydb AND the
	   \<Monitrix Directory>\database directories.

4. Final Notes
To update all of your workstation inventory records to reflect
Mega Bytes instead of bytes you must run PCINFO.EXE on your
workstations. If you have PCINFO.EXE running from within your
system login scripts then as your workstations login into your
servers their records will be updated automatically. To update
your file server records just have Monitrix rescan your network
by having the Auto Explore option enabled within the Server
Configuration menu. By default this option should be enabled.
