STAR TREK TECHNICAL MANUAL README TEXT
Star Trek - The Next Generation Interactive Technical Manual Update

To update your existing version of the Interactive Technical Manual you
need to run 'SETUP.EXE' from Windows. If you do not have an existing
version of Star Trek on your hard drive you will not be able to use this
disk.

The Setup will load an install program first. You will see the standard
Windows installation program. During this installation a DOS program will
be launched during which you will see a DOS screen instead of Windows.
You will be returned to Windows when the DOS application has finished.

To install this disk, insert the disk in drive 'A', or drive 'B',
start Windows, click 'FILE' on the Program Manager menu bar, click on 'RUN',
and on the command line type, "a:\setup", (if the disk is in drive 'B' type
"b:\setup") and click on 'OK'.

If you install any other software that uses QuickTime after you have
used this disk, you will need to re-install this Patch disk again.

			Windows Errors

Be sure that your system meets the basic system requirements as
printed on the box.

The program requirements have been changed to systems with 8 MB or
more of RAM. A version that runs properly on 4 MB of RAM is currently
being worked on, and updates as to the status of this can be found
on the Davidson & Associates BBS at (310) 793-9966.

For Systems with more than 8 MB of RAM

If being used, turn off: Hp Dashboard, Tab Works, Norton Desktop,
AST's Desktop, virus scanners or any screen saver programs including
After Dark. Also this program may not work under the DOS shell,
UNIX, Windows NT, or OS/2. This program is designed to run under
Windows 3.1 on DOS-based systems.

The following are common error messages:

LCARS file not found....	or
This program has been allocated less than 3500k......

Try increasing your swap file in Virtual Memory to at least a
        Permanent 8000 KB.

'NEW3' Errors
We are currently working on this problem. As soon as we have a
fix, you will be able to download the software from the Davidson
bulletin board and perhaps various On-line services.

Undefined Dynalink......

This error should not occur on the current version of Star Trek.
However if you do get it, then you may have installed another
program that has an older version of QuickTime that is conflicting
with Star Trek. In this case simply re-install Star Trek and the
installation program will search your system and replace the older
version of QuickTime with the newer version.
