1.  In general
==============

The printed dokumentation to this software version is called
"Installation and Interfaces" version 2.0. If you haven't got this
manual, yet, you can order it for free by calling our hotline.

This version 2.21 of the board software supports Fax group 3 connetions
with a transfer rate of 14400 baud.

The B-channel protocols V.110, T.90 and ISO 8208 are supported with
this version due to the CAPI standard.

With this version the interrupt sharing of ixOne boards for computers
with EISA bus system is supported (since hardware version 1.2). This has
got the advantage that just one interrupt is needed even if more than one
ixEins board is in use. Additionally the EISA slot i/o support avoids
i/o port conflicts with other PC adapter cards. The respective EISA ".CFG"
files are delivered with this version. In EISA PCs a maximum of 8 ixOne
boards (hardware version 1.2) can be used simultanously. The EISA
configuration process is described in chapter 2.1.2 of the manual
"Installation and Interfaces".

2. Network protocol variants
============================

The European ISDN protocol (Euro-ISDN/NET3/DSS-1), the protocol variants
1TR6 (Germany), VN3 (France) and Norway Phase 1 (Norway) are part the
ixOne software.

If the ixOne board shall be used with a protocol different from Euro-ISDN
(DSS-1) this has to be configured using the SETLINE tool once before.
The usage of SETLINE is described in chapter 3.7 of the manual
"Installation and Interfaces". You get a brief description of all allowed
commandline parameters when you start SETLINE without any arguments.

The protocol variant VN4 (France) is supported by the selection of Euro-
ISDN using SETLINE.

Below some examples for the protocol adjustment using SETLINE are given:

SETLINE   -D 0 <Return>    selects 1TR6

SETLINE   -D 3 <Return>    selects VN3 (France)

SETLINE   -D 8 <Return>    selects Norway Phase 1 (Norway)

3. Installation
===============

The provided batch file CAPI.BAT can be called with following parameters:

      CAPI <RETURN> downloads the protocol software and installs
                              the ixOne driver software
or
      CAPI -D <RETURN> deinstalls the resident DOS CAPI driver
                              (IXCAPI.COM)
or
      CAPI ? <RETURN>         prints a short instruction for CAPI.BAT

The manual does not contain any remark concerning these additional parameters
of CAPI.BAT.

4. Certification
================

The ixOne boards with ISA and microchannel bus are licensed by the
German "Bundesamt fr Zulassungen in der Telekommunikation" (BZT) with
numbers A103702C and A105705D, respectively.
In addition to this the boards have been certified by the BZT and the
Swiss Telecom for the Euro-ISDN protocol. The certification numbers have
not been assigned, yet. Our hotline will tell You the numbers as soon
as we will have got them.

The licenses were assigned for point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and
leased line connections.
Information concering certification in other countries you can inquire
at our hotline.

5. Software installation of a fax/modem extension module
=========================================================

Due to the manual "Installation and Interfaces" Version 2.0 the software
installation of a fax/modem extension module is now done with the new
utiliy SETFAX.
If you start SETFAX without any parameters you will get a brief description
of all allowed commandline arguments.

6. Problems / Annotations / History
===================================

a) If the ixOne-express software is used with the Euro ISDN protocol
   the support of the EAZ (terminal selection digit) must be disabled.
   Otherwise no incoming calls will be accepted.

b) To use the Euro-ISDN protocol the separate download file NET3.BIN
   (delivered with earlier versions of the board's software) is
   not needed anymore. The functionality of NET3.BIN has been integrated
   into the file IX.BIN. Which ISDN protocol is used is determend by an entry
   in the ixOne-EEPROM. This entry can be modified using the utility
   SETLINE.

c) Version 2.11 had some problems, special in FAX G3 transmission. These
   problems have been solved.
