INSTALLATION NOTES_________________________________________

This file contains information on installing HiJaak Graphics
Suite on certain system configurations. It also contains
information about certain features that were added to the
Install after the Getting Started Guide went to press and are
therefore not documented in the Guide.

INSTALLING TO A COMPRESSED DRIVE
If you are installing HiJaak Graphics Suite to a hard drive
that has been compressed, such as with Stacker, DoubleSpace
or SuperStor, you may experience problems if the drive does
not have significantly more free space than the install
requires. This is because compression programs do not report
the actual amount of space free on a compressed drive. They
report the amount that they expect to provide by using
compression. The HJGS files may not compress as much as the
compression program expects they will. See the documentation
that came with your drive compression software for more
information.

INSTALLING ON SHARED NETWORK WINDOWS INSTALLATIONS
If you are sharing a Windows installation on a network drive with
others, you may not have write access to the WINDOWS and
WINDOWS\SYSTEM directories. If this is so, you will NOT be able
to install HiJaak Graphics Suite. Contact your network
administrator and have him or her either install the software for
you, or grant you write rights to these two directories so you can
perform the installation.

USING A MODEM DURING INSTALL
If you are not a pre-registered user of HiJaak Graphics Suite,
then the Install will let you register by modem. Therefore, it is
recommended that you end any modem connections before installing
HiJaak Graphics Suite.

USING SUPERSTOR 1.0
The installation software used in HiJaak Graphics Suite is not
compatible with SuperStor version 1.0. If you are using this
version of SuperStor, either install HiJaak Graphics Suite to
an uncompressed drive or update your SuperStor to at least
version 2.0.

USING STACKER 1.0
The installation software used in HiJaak Graphics Suite is not
compatible with Stacker version 1.0. If you are using this
version of Stacker, either install HiJaak Graphics Suite to
an uncompressed drive or update your Stacker to at least
version 2.0.

USING NORTON DESKTOP FOR WINDOWS
The installation of HiJaak Graphics Suite may leave the Startup
group on your desktop when it finishes, whether you chose to
put the Smuggler icon in the Startup group or not. All you
need to do is move the group icon back where you normally keep
it.

NEW INSTALL FEATURES
A CD-ROM Options dialog box has been added to the CD-ROM install.
If you install from CD-ROM, this will be the first dialog
box you see. It allows you to select whether you want to
install files from the CD-ROM directly onto your hard drive,
or set up HiJaak Graphics Suite to run from the CD-ROM.
Note that if you want to use HiJaak Browser to Index graphics
files on CD-ROM, you must install HiJaak Graphics Suite onto
your hard drive.

A Display Type dialog box has also been added to the install.
This dialog appears after you click on OK in the Configuration
Options dialog box. It allows you to setup HiJaak Graphics
Suite for your monitor. For further instructions, click on the
Help button in the Display Type dialog box.

A NOTE ABOUT DEINSTALLING HIJAAK GRAPHICS SUITE
HiJaak Graphics Suite installs certain DLL and other support
files in order to operate. Some of these files may have already
been present because they are also used by other Windows
applications you may have installed. In this case, removing
the files would cause those other applications to stop operating
correctly. For this reason, deinstalling HiJaak Graphics Suite
intentionally does not remove these support files.
