                   INTRODUCTION
-----------------------------------------------------------

This README file contains up-to-date information not
contained elsewhere. It should be used in conjunction with
the User's Guide. We recommend printing this file and
keeping it with your Sytos Premium documentation.

This README file is divided into 3 sections:

    1.1 Edit CONFIG.SYS Before Re-Installing Or
        Upgrading To Sytos Premium
1.2 Sytos Plus Volumes Cannot Be Viewed
        In The Sytos Premium Library
1.3 Set Up Rebound After Installing
        Sytos Premium

2.0 INSTALLING SCSI ADAPTER SUPPORT
2.1 Installing SCSI Adapter Device Drivers
        Under IBM OS/2 version 2.x

-----------------------------------------------------------
             1.0 INSTALLING SYTOS PREMIUM
-----------------------------------------------------------
1.1 EDIT CONFIG.SYS BEFORE RE-INSTALLING OR
    UPGRADING TO SYTOS PREMIUM

You should edit your CONFIG.SYS file before
re-installing Sytos Premium or upgrading from
from Sytos Plus. Remove the DEVICE= line
for your backup device in the CONFIG.SYS file.
If you do not remove this line and allow
Sytos Premium to edit your CONFIG.SYS file
during installation, remove the REM statement
in front of the DEVICE= line in the CONFIG.SYS
    file after installation.

1.2 SYTOS PLUS VOLUMES CANNOT BE VIEWED IN
    THE SYTOS PREMIUM 2.0 LIBRARY

You cannot view Sytos Plus Volumes in the
Sytos Premium Library. To view Volumes created
by Sytos Plus, use "Add To Library"
in the Sytos Premium Library window.

1.3 SET UP REBOUND AFTER INSTALLING SYTOS PREMIUM

Whether or not you choose the Optional System
Changes when installing Sytos Premium, you should
set up Rebound after installing Sytos Premium.
Rebound is Sytos Premium's disaster recovery
utility for recovering your OS/2 operating system
after hard disk failures or crashes.

You cannot recover your system using Rebound if
you did not run Setup before the disaster.
Refer to Chapter 2 in the Sytos Premium
    User's Guide for instructions.

             2.0 INSTALLING SCSI ADAPTER SUPPORT
------------------------------------------------------------

2.1 INSTALLING SCSI ADAPTER DEVICE DRIVERS UNDER IBM OS/2
    VERSION 2.x
For Sytos Premium to access a SCSI backup device under
OS/2 2.x, the device driver for the SCSI host adapter
must be included in CONFIG.SYS. Ensure that the following
    two lines appear in CONFIG.SYS:

         BASEDEV=[ADD-name].ADD
         BASEDEV=OS2SCSI.DMD

where [ADD-name].ADD corresponds to your SCSI Adapter
    device driver.

Sytos Premium supports the following SCSI adapters
    under OS/2 2.x:

    ADAPTER SCSI ADAPTER
                                   DEVICE DRIVER (.ADD)

    Adaptec AHA-1505 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1510 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1515 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1520/1522 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1530 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1540/1542 AHA154X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1570/1572 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1640 AHA164X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1740/1742/1744 AHA174X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-2740/2742 AIC7770.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-2840/2842 AIC7770.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-2940 AIC7870.ADD
    Adaptec AIC-6260/6360 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AIC-7770 AIC7770.ADD
    DPT SK 2011 DPT20XX.ADD
    DPT SK 2012 DPT20XX.ADD
    Future Domain TMC-850/885 FD8XX.ADD
    Future Domain TMC-1650/1660/
       1670/1680 FD16-700.ADD
    Future Domain MCS-600/700 FD16-700.ADD
    IBM 16-bit AT SCSI FD16-700.ADD
    IBM Embedded SCSI IBM2SCSI.ADD
    IBM Microchannel (MCA) SCSI IBM2SCSI.ADD

If the .ADD file for your adapter is not supplied
with OS/2, contact your SCSI adapter manufacturer.

2.2 INSTALLING IBM SCSI SUPPORT UNDER IBM OS/2
    VERSION 1.3

For Sytos Premium to access a backup device
from an IBM SCSI adapter under IBM OS/2 version 1.3,
run DDINSTAL from the OS/2 command prompt.
When OS/2 prompts you for a device driver diskette,
insert Sytos Premium Install Disk 1, and continue.
This action installs the proper IBM SCSI adapter
device driver, SCSI.SYS, required to use
the adapter from OS/2 version 1.3.

2.3 INSTALLING ADDITIONAL DEVICE SUPPORT

To install additional device support after
installing Sytos Premium, click on [New device]
in the Setup window. Change the Working Directory
to A: or B:, and insert Sytos Premium Install
Disk 1. If needed, Sytos Premium prompts you
    for additional diskettes.

                      3.0 LIMITATIONS
-----------------------------------------------------------
3.1 PRINTING LIMITATIONS

Sytos Premium cannot print to some Postscript
printers. If you are having problems printing a Log
file, Tape Set file, or README, save the file as a
text file from Sytos Premium, and send the file
to a printer from a word processor, the
OS/2 command prompt, or OS/2 window.
