Check your settings and the 'links screens' against these settings and
fine-tune YOUR unit... the USR 8/25/94 FR upper is still the best for
maximum speed 'connects' and transfer rates to a mix of v.34/V.FC units.

PS... I have INCLUDED the 8/25 flasher from USR (USRSDL.EXE). This file
is (c) by USR, and is included as a public service to USR modem users :)

Tidbits... You MUST use a HWHS cable for BOTH IBM compatibles and Macs!
Set the 'baud' (term to modem) rate at the HIGHEST rate supported by the
SW and HW - usually 57.6K or 115.2K on IBMs, Mac Quadras and PPCs.
Older CPUs can usually handle at least 38.4K. For IBMs USE a 16650AFN
UART on the active port (All Mac modem ports can handle v.34/V.FC speeds
if the SW allows it). The use of one of those 'VOODOO' cards will NOT
increase the rate over that of true 16650AFN 'turned on'- so don't waste
your $$$! Switch 1 is 'UP' for most IBMs, and 'DOWN' for ALL Macs!

Caveats... HSLink, MAY or (HIGH prob) may NOT work at 115.2K, depending on
the current moon phase...:) If YOU normally use Omen ZM with or without MT,
but the BBS is using (ala PCB, Express, etc.) 'off the shelf' comm'l com
routines, it's MUCH better/safer/faster/sexier to use YOUR 'internal' com
routines (aka 'generic' Zmodem 'internal'). If you have a prob WITH one BBS
but NOT others, it may be the BBSs fault, or... try setting YOUR modem to a
lower speed (AT&N13 or &N12) and use the B0 INIT.

My USR is a bit more esoteric than yours is, but then... I am ALSO better
looking, richer, have a longer appendage and get laid more than you do too!
Sorry, ...but that's just the way life is ;). Just use the registers you
DO have (REMEMBER, It's not HOW many registers you have, but HOW you use the
registers YOU have that counts!), and above all ENJOY (and smell the LEDs)!

Parting shots...
If I had it all to do over again - I would have; ...smiled back at that girl
on the beach, 'stayed' in `Nam with a few good friends, had just 'one more'
glorious day in the sun - enjoying the wonderment of it all, spent more time
at chasing rainbows and unicorns than building them. (is anything EVER real?)

Greets...
To my old friend NoMAD... It WAS a GREAT BBS while it lasted! "...better to
preserve the essence of a rare rose in the full bloom of its beauty and so
enjoy its impression forever - than have to cut it down after it has wilted
and decayed into a bad memory." <<DP - 1994>>
