Gentlemen:

In response to the great interest shown in KINGMAKER, this package
is offered to upgrade the current version (1.5) of the game. It
incorporates the changes and "fixes" that have been included with
the latest version (1.51) now being shipped to retailers.
This "KMUPDATE.EXE" contains the following files:

    README.TXT
    KING.EXE
    TEXT.DAT
    ZONE.

To upgrade your copy of KINGMAKER, please first insure that the game
program is installed on your hard-drive. Then go to the directory.
Place the KMUPDATE.EXE and put it in the KING directory with the game
program files. Type "KMUPDATE.EXE".The computer will inform you that
the KING.EXE file already exists. It will ask "Overwrite (y/n)?" Type "Y"
and the appropriate files will be upgraded automatically.
The upgrade will continue by informing you that the file for "TEXT.DAT"
already exists as well. Again, you will be asked to confirm the upgrade
with the phrase "Overwrite (y/n)?"; respond "Y".Next, you will be
informed that the "ZONES" file already exists. Type "Y" after it asks
    "Overwrite (y/n)?".
With the upgrade of "ZONES", your KINGMAKER game is now identical with
the most recent version. The update program will now automatically return
you to the KING directory. Type "KING" to run the game.

As to the improvements, these are briefly summarized below:

1) At the start and end of each game, on the "New/Saved Game Menu"
(page 9 of the Reference Manual) a new button labelled "Exit to DOS".
Selection of this obviates the need to play any turns whatsoever,
and will release the player from the program.

2) The Cities with unlimited capacity (London, Bristol, York and Norwich)
will NOW hold an unlimited number of troops. This is signified when you
Inspect one of these cities by an infinity symbol following the "C" listing
(as per page 34 of the Reference Manual).

3) A player will be required to make a Copy Security Check (page 11) only
once per PLAYING. This will occur on the fifth turn of each new game, and
on the first turn of each restart (i.e., if you Save a game and commence
play later, you will be required to fulfill the copy protection routine
  again).

4) Upon loss of the last in-play noble in your faction, the game will proceed.
Upon your next game turn, the program will now automatically send you to
the "Secret Support" screen (page 28) whether you have any undeclared
support available or not.. At this point, the player may either activate an
un-played noble, continue the game (in which case, the same sequence will
occur on your next turn), or exit the game.

5) Finally, the computer will no longer assign offices to untitled nobles in
  computer-driven factions.

With these additions to the program, KINGMAKER continues to maintain its
status as the best wargame on the market. Should you have additional
observations, questions or problems, please feel free to contact our
Tech Support (1-410-426-9600). It is only through your efforts that this
upgrade became possible. Our thanks to all who brought about Version 1.51
   of KINGMAKER.
