Seattle, associated in the public mind with timber and Klondike gold mines, took the space age as its theme for the first world's fair in twenty-two years.   One of the elements of the space age, organizers determined, was compactness and they appropriately packed Century 21 on a mere 74 acres, compared to 500 used in the 1958 Brussels fair.
